The sky is falling

I like Crean, I really do but I'm not entirely sure we have a much different outcome the last 2 games with Perea inside. How he has this squad playing zero defensive is amazing. Not even average defense is being played. Don't feel warm and fuzzy about the Maryland game either. We went lights out from 3 in several games and those teams just have to tip their hat to this squad. To me, this team has currently met expectation. Or maybe burger boys are a complete waste of hype? Probably not. I just feel so bad for Yogi to have to deal with the last 2 years. He is an amazing player and he may go down as one of my top 5 Hoosiers. Absolute stud.

My real frustration is this program's wheels are just spinning in the mud. The vehicle is going nowhere. And the worst part about it is I don't have confidence that we are going to nail the homerun hire so there is literally no point in getting rid of Crean as the next guy is probably going to be about the same grade of coach as we have now. Which we aren't happy with.

I was still on the fence this year and started to fall off. I just keep telling myself that Crean is growing so much himself as a coach but quite honestly, that's a lie. This guy's pride is through the roof and you can't continue to grow unless you admit you have so much to learn. Maybe Crean thinks that way but I just don't get that vibe from the dude. Look, Crean excels at several categories but roster management and in game coaching is not and has never been his strength. He's a great guy it seems but I need a basketball coach. I would so much rather our coach suck at being an ambassador and the intangibles and just be a baller out there on the sidelines.

I'm babbling but in summary, Crean has now lost me as a supporter. I will still watch the games, be bi-polar with rage and pure joy during the trips down the floor and just be hopeful a homerun hire is in the wings.

At the end of the day, I think the fact that the Maryland game was the first game all season the crowd has been rowdy speaks in uber volume at how the collective feels about this program. It's hard to get excited about and I think the fanbase is drained from having to will this team into good and passionate basketball by screaming their lungs out. Just broken as a fan at this point. Everyone have a blessed day regardless!

I guess I'm more of a glass half full rather than empty kinda person. I can't refutiate the arguments that most of you are posting, however, I remain optimistic rather than pessimistic. Plus it's going to be 5 years before there is a coaching change, if then. Until that time I'm 100% behind coach Crean.

amen! Why do we compare Crean to the worst, darkest moment in IU basketball history. I could argue Calipari or Pitino would of had us in the dance by year 2 and ever since. Look at UK during the previous 10 years or so before Calipari. Or Alabama before Saban. The right hire can elevate a traditional powerhouse in short order. And YES, Indiana is still considered a national powerhouse.

Love the Saban/Alabama comparison. I have used this with my friends before. From 1999-2009 Alabama could only win their Division once. After Saban gets there they win 4/6 conference championships.

If Glass had the balls to make the change and go get the best guy possible we could literally be picking the cream of the crop just like UK, KU and Duke in 2 years AND he would have a job for life.

I agree with you guys 1000 percent but i feel like at some point when can we put blame on players for not playing well? It seems everytime we have a great game everyone rants and raves about the players, but if we lose its creans fault, but seriously these kids have been playing ball since they could crawl, so many basics of basketball are not being applied, they should know these things. I get the hate for crean trust me i want him gone too, im not trying to argue or place blame i just see it a little different at times.

I dont think anyone is giving the players a pass but the captain, the ceo, the general ultimately gets the blame in the real world.

We should totally fire CTC and replace him with some other jackass who may or may not live up to our lofty expectations. Then after 3 or 4 years of rebuilding AGAIN. We can all bitch about him too and of coarse fire them and find another jackass to bitch about again.

Btw this team has totally exceeded my expectations where they would be at this point this season. Also this season isn't over yet and still time to continue to exceed my expectations for this season. They can still do some great things and most of the time their fun to watch. GO HOOSIERS
