Bears talking to Kevin Wilson

Recommended Posts

Reported today by the northwest indiana times, Chicago Bears are considering buying out Wilson's contract.

"Upon the recommendation of former Bears head coach Cam Cameron, sources inside the Chicago Bears front office are considering extending an offer to Coach Kevin Wilson of Indiana University. Wilson wrapped up his season with an impressive win over Purdue, and is credited with crafting the Hoosier defensive turnaround with his canning of former defensive coach Doug Mallory. Known for his excellent time management and offensive skills, well-placed sources contend that Wilson would complement Bears Quarteback Jay Cutler. Back door talks are reportedly taking place, time will tell if the Bears have the juice to lure Wilson from IU."

Who can argue with this?

"Former bears head coach Cam Cameron"? Was he ever head coach in Chicago?

Are they looking at Wilson as an offensive coordinator or to be the HC?

Would seem to be a stretch to consider Wilson NFL head coach level at this point but he does have that edge about him.

I don't think Cameron has coached the Bears.  He was a QB coach for the Redskins, an OC for the Chargers, the head coach for the Dolphins for a year, then the OC for the Ravens and now the OC for LSU.  Haven't seen anything about him coaching the Bears.

Update:
Fred Glass is also being approached to take over the vacated GM position.
"Fred has done a remarkable job of attracting fans and developing IU's branding. He could fit into the Bears management team fairly seemlessly. His friendship with Wilson is already solid, which could facilitate front office interaction. And Glass' ingenious idea of tying season basketball tickets to the mandatory purchase of football tickets shows acumen and fits in well with the Bears business model."
Maybe a both or nothing deal!
