No Holt?

Folks:

The EYBL Nike summer circuit is arguably the highest level AAU circuit in the country. This past summer 437 players participated, including ALL the big names: Zimmerman, Rabb, Bryant, etc.

Emmitt Holt also played in that circuit.

Out of 437 players, only six averaged two or more blocked shots per game. Emmitt Holt averaged 2.1 blocked shots per game. He was fourth out of those 437 players.

Out of the players who averaged over one blocked shot per game (there were about forty of them) only ONE player averaged 1.5 or less personal fouls per game.

Who was the player who blocked the fourth most shots per game and committed the fewest fouls while doing so?

You guessed it...

Emmitt Holt.

Love me some statistical posts. Bring facts to the argument though is a low blow... how will people counter that??

I got this...

Yeah!!! So?!?!?!

Maybe they should just start measuring a player's height with his arms straight up in the air.  That would provide a true "basketball" height.  I certainly haven't seen many players use there heads to defend or block a shot (which would be the highest point of their body using traditional height).  Wing span is a little misleading as well since it's finger tip to finger tip (that provides a horizontal reach, but not a height per se).  I just want to know how tall a player can make himself on the court - hence a measurement that shows his height with his hands straight up in the air.

Holt has a short neck and super long arms.We had a player once out of Bloomington who was 6'10''or11''Cris Lawson.

I was super hyped to see him because we didn't have the internet or access to see players early.

When I did he had a long neck and super short arms.Anyway he didnt play 6'11'' just like Emmitt wont play 6'7''You don't rebound or block shots with the top of your head usually.

Ray Tolbert may have a couple times but that's a whole different story.

Sounds like RMK saying Uwe Blab wasn't a "true 7 footer" because he had a long neck.

I loved Holt's interview comments about Devin----- that the first thing the Davis family did was forgive him which was huge because he had just hurt their child.

It was not even mostly Holt's fault---but he had to be carrying a huge burden over that---great to see him respond.

Seems like a humble warrior!

I struggle with the idea of starting a 6'7" center. Is there a conversion I can do to make myself feel better? For example, 6'7" with 7'3" wingspan = 6'10' with 7'0" wingspan?

I absolutely love Holt's game.

You're not going to make us do math are you?  LOL! :stop:
