Revised Season Expectations

Recommended Posts

Momma always said there would be days like this!  :banghead:

I will take a deep breath and allow the dust to settle before changing my predictions.

yup...I remember a 1994 team that lost to a unimpressive Butler team early on...

then went on to knock off #1 UK...

and that team's captain? Damon Bailey...

who is gonna be our Damon Bailey?

Harrell of UL had 15pts and 13 rebounds in their 45-33 win against Cleveland State. We won't be able to stop him, but we may be able to shut down the rest of the team. Need to work on our defense before this game, but there is still time to make improvements. We're still going to need to hit all our threes...

How can you not believe that this won't be a better team next year? Keep these kids together, and we'd have an experienced team with lethal shooters...

who do you foresee being the inside presence next year?
I don't see either of the incoming freshman being the answer. Perea? He's not the answer in his third year and so I see no reason to believe he will be in his fourth season. Holt? April? Neither one of them can seem to even touch the floor to TRY and develop into an inside presence.
Crean seems to be a good person and in a lot of ways he has done some great things with the program but I'm not sure he has a definite plan to get to the top.
I find our recruiting strategy baffling. Why take recruits at the last minute, who play a position where we definitely have a need, tie up a scholarship...then not play them? Very few teams play 11-13 guys...just leave the scholarship open and use it on a player next year that you have confidence can play!
We can have all the outside shooters in the world but if we aren't competitive on the inside we'll get killed next year as well!
I personally think he should commit to playing Holt this year. Sink or swim. Perea and Holt with TW at the three. Hartman has been surprising in a good way and I think he could give them solid minutes backing up Troy.

The dust has settled----and I am sticking with my original expectations----I expect us to get our inside serviceable and our D strengthened ---and we make the tourney this year and finish top 6 in Big Ten----if we don't the year will be a huge disappointment and I will join the masses calling for change.

Let's get it done!

As I said in another post, beat Louisville and we are back on track

Though less so if we drop to another school before then. And if that school isn't named "Pitt" there may be riots.

It's just tough that we won't get a really good gauge of the team for two weeks.
