Favorite/Most Memorable IU BBALL Moments

Recommended Posts

Hoosier Nation--What's some of your favorite or most memorable IU Basketball moments of all time and feel free to add why or if you saw it in person or on TV.

In Person---For me was when Knight threw the chair across the floor. Not saying it was right--but it was vintage Bob Knight and represented how we all felt about such a disappointing season.

On TV---For me was when Keith Smart hit the shot against Syracuse to win the National Championship. I was on campus that night and the whole campus/town erupted in a loud roar when that shot went down and we all rushed to the fountain.

Great memories...what you got?

One of the lows I remember from TV came from the 2012 season when we lost to Illinois at Illinois on the buzzer beater play. That was devastating.

2 lows from in person is our loss to Butler in 2012 in Indy and to UK when they trounced us by about 30 in a game at RCA dome. Don't remember the year of the UK game but it was brutal. Mid to early 2000s.

I'll go events I was there for. And remember, I'm young.

Favorite is a tie between the Temple WatSwat/Vic clutch 3 game and beating #3 Ohio State on New Year's right after the WatShot.

Least favorite...I was at the Illinois game when Griffey put in that layup at the buzzer to beat #1 us. Not a good night to be in Champaign.

That's not all that happened that night.  Were all the fish finally found?

Last game I saw live was 12/8/07 as we chanted "Jordan's Better" at the Jordan Crawford/Jamal Crawford matchup and IU won in a blowout.  Great night.

Watching IU pickup games in offseason practices in Assembly Hall as the only other person in the Hall not on the team....moments of my life.

On TV...Smart Shot, Wat Shot.

Don't remind me about Griffey winning the game for them and one of our players forgetting their assignment when we had 3 players on the perimeter thinking Brandon Paul was going to shoot the 3pt shot but 1 of those 3 wasn't suppose to be there and we got caught watching the paint dry. Sorry for the rant Hova nothing against you.

Another memorable event at a game I saw that I think was against Michigan State in the Hall was one where Alford went to the line and actually missed 2 free throws in a row. We were in shock because Steve Alford was automatic. If you remember--when he went to the line he went through the same routine each time he shot and the crowd would say it out loud as he did it: socks-shorts-1-2-3-Swish. That night there were loud gasps when he clanked 2 in a row.

My favorite iubb memories are my first game in assembly hall which was the Minnesota game in 2013 and my other I'm not sure if it counts as an IU memory, but going to Orlando to watch a Magic game and meeting my all time favorite Hoosier, Victor Oladipo. Meeting Victor is probably my favorite memory overall because I was so excited that I told him I loved him and ended up crying, but I didn't know if it counts as in IU memory considering he played for the Magic, not IU, when I met him.

I'm a fairly young guy, so here it goes:

- The WatShot - Dad and I jumped from where we were sitting at home jumping and screaming. Next thing I knew I was across the room with my mother laughing at us. I threw a pillow when Oladipo turned it over saying we lost. Mom said keep the faith, I guess she was right

- Best gAme I ever attended was Hulls soph year when the beat a solid Michigan team.

- IU beating Duke in 2002. I was the only one home and was screaming, jumping, pounding the floor, and calling all my friends who didn't give IU a chance.
