Women fall to 2-5  with a 3-2 8-inning loss to Syracuse.  Both teams scored a run in the 5th but Syracuse scored 2 in the top of the 8th and we could only get one across in the bottom of the inning.  Goodin went the distance allowing 3 runs on 5 hits - 2 for extra bases - and walked one.  Hoosiers had 5 hits.

Next up a scheduled 12:30 start against Duke.

Pitching, pitching, pitching.  Do we have it or not this year?   We lose to Duke 16-2 in 5 innings.

Kate Rehberg started today's game against Duke.  Faced 5 batters:  1 hit (triple), 2 BB, 3 WP and 2 HBP.  Allowed 2 runs.

Josie Wood replaced her in the 1st and pitched 1.1 innings facing 12 batters:  5 hits (2 doubles, 1 triple); 4 BB.  Allowed 6 runs.

Taylor Askland relieved Wood and faced 13 batters: 5 hits; 1 BB; 1 WP; 2 HPB.  Allowed 3 runs.

Rehberg went back to the mound in the 5th and allowed 5 more runs (4 earned).

We allowed 10 hits; 10 BB ; 4 WP; 2 HBP.  We could only muster 4 hits off Duke pitching.

Emily Goodin Wins Big Ten Co-Pitcher of the Week

Indiana Softball senior Emily Goodin has been named the Big Ten Co-Pitcher of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday. The award comes on the heels of Indiana's 3-1 weekend in the NC State Fairfield Crabtree Invitational.

Emily Goodin was outstanding for Indiana pitching every inning of all four games of the Invitational. In the weekend opener against Bucknell, she tossed her second career no-hitter for the Hoosiers registering seven strikeouts in 5 innings. On day two she pitched two extra inning contests going 15.1 innings, earning a second victory against Bucknell and dropping a one-run 2-1 decision to NC State. In the loss, she registered a season high 11 strikeouts. Goodin closed the tournament on Sunday (Feb. 23) pitching another complete game shutout with nine strikeouts in the win over Saint Joseph's. In total, Goodin recorded three wins, pitched all 27.1 innings, registered 35 strikeouts, with an ERA of 0.77 and an opponent batting average of .111.

Goodin's first no-hitter was during her freshman year on Feb. 24, 2017 against UAB. This was the 28th no-hitter in Indiana Softball history, which includes three perfect games. Goodin becomes the sixth IU pitcher to record multiple no-hitters joining Amy Unterbrink (9), Teresa Raine (3), Meghan Roark (3), Mariangee Bogado (2), and Tara Trainer (2).

This marks the first Big Ten Pitcher of the Week award for the Evansville, Indiana native. This is Goodin's third weekly conference award, as she won Big Ten Freshman of the Week twice in 2017 on Feb. 27 and March 13.
