Micah Johnson - Retired

Recommended Posts
Micah is currently w/the AAA Charlotte Knights. He had elbow surgery in 2013.
My first class of freshman year I was partnered up with this guy for some small in class assignment. He said he played baseball. I think he may have undersold himself.

Sent from my place of advanced, analytical thinking: the toilet.

Looks the season is over for Micah. Hamstring problems.

@KnightsBaseball: ROSTER MOVES: Micah Johnson placed on the DL, Luis Sierra promoted to the #CLTKnights from @BhamBarons. Active roster set at 25.

With the Gordon Beckham era now complete, the White Sox are in line to have Marcus Semien, Carlos Sanchez and Micah Johnson battle for the Opening Day job at second base.

Johnson figures to be the favorite for the starting job next year, and he might have been up with the White Sox in September but he was shut down with hamstring issues. The speedy Johnson stole just 22 bases in 103 total minor-league games this past season, but he did have 84 steals in the minor leagues in 2013.

And even if the organization views Johnson as their top second base prospect, it isn’t out of the question he could be moved if it benefited another area of the roster considerably.

LI posted this link in the Phegley thread and I wanted to put it in here as well. The competition for Micah just got thinner. Marcus Semien was traded to the A's yesterday.

In addition to 15 minor league free agents who got an invite to major league camp at spring training, the Chicago White Sox also invited nine minor leaguers over to the big league side. Micah Johnson, who could end up as the Opening Day second baseman, tops the list.

Pitchers and catchers report to spring training on Feb. 20, and the first full-squad workout is set to take place Feb. 24.

Micah absolutely killing it in spring training. Putting a stranglehold on the starting 2B job.

Jon Heyman
‏@JonHeymanCBS speedy micah johnson is having big spring, hitting .458 (.519 obp) as he tried to win #chisox 2B job

Also, this:

Said another AL scout: "Looks like a dude on a mission in camp right now. Playing well and been causing a ruckus all over with his speed. "Not sure I've seen his jersey clean past the third inning yet this spring."

johnson is another thing we can thank crean for.  smith got some needed help recruiting him here from ctc.  probably wouldve went to a big coastal school if not here.  if i remember right, he was the top recruit in indiana for his class.  too bad he couldnt stay healthy his junior year.  thought he was gonna be an all-american after his strong first two seasons.  really cool that we'll soon have 4 or 5 hoosiers in the big show.
