Josh Phegley - Oakland Athletics

Recommended Posts

Josh has been selected for the 2014 Triple-A All-Star Game.

Being that this is his 3rd time being a Triple-A All-Star, I hope he can get over the hump and be a regular MLB player and not get stuck in the dreaded 4A role for the rest of his career.

He went 1-for-2 with a run scored in the International League’s 7-3 win over the Pacific Coast League.
Phegley walked to the plate with one out in the bottom of the sixth inning and brought with him the advanced approach to the plate that’s a large part of the reason he’s hit .264 with 13 home runs (the most by any catcher in the IL) already this season.
Phegley pegged Smyth correctly and sent the slider on a line through the hole between shortstop and third base for his first career Triple-A All-Star game hit (he went 0-for-2 in 2012 in Buffalo).

Boom! Phegley gets the call again.

Seven Knights Promoted to Chicago on Tuesday. Chris Bassitt, Scott Carroll, Jordan Danks, Josh Phegley, Marcus Semien, Eric Surkamp, and Michael Taylor.

Phegley, 26, hit .274 (115-for-419) with 69 runs scored, 30 doubles, four triples, 23 home runs, and 75 RBIs in 107 games for the Knights this season. The Terre Haute, IN native was named as an International League Midseason and Postseason All-Star this season. He finished third overall in the IL in home runs and slugging percentage (.530) and ranked first among IL catchers in runs scored, triples, home runs, RBIs, and total bases (222). Defensively, Phegley, a 2012 MiLB Rawlings Gold Glove Award winner, led all IL catchers in games (105), total chances (893), putouts (799), and assists (86). He also threw out a league best 44% of attempted basestealers.
