If Sam Gilbert is still around, I'm sure he would pay for the damages!

I hadn't heard of Gilbert before, but just looked him up after seeing your post.  and wow... I'm shocked at how corrupt that UCLA team was during that Wooden era.  Definitely puts a damper on my respect of the amount of championships won during that time (which was a sh**-ton)

Indeed. I didn't know about him until Bill Walton mentioned him a few years ago. I guess that's a big part of why UCLA had so many tremendous players back in those days and won so many national championships!

It's still surprising to me how well we seem to be doing with Thon. Doesn't seem like the typical Crean recruit, but I love it.

Just think how quickly everything would change if he said "I have decided to play basketball for Indiana University". He would be a program changer on the scale of Zeller. Come on Maker---reclassify or don't reclassify--but become a Hoosier ---join the list of lottery picks and while you're at it help us hang #6 and become an Indiana legend.

Better player? Absolutely. I just don't see offices shutting down to watch this kids announcement. The donations this program received after we started getting the Zellers of Indiana was huge for the program. I think only if we win a title with that kid would it be bigger for the program.
