Bill O'Brien

I saw on the ESPN ticker that O'Brien and the Texans are nearing a deal to make him the next coach on Houston.

So the question. Is Penn State the ideal coaching environment for a tenured coach (a la Mack Brown)? Will they see some attrition? Some say that Coach O'Brien was the glue holding that team together. Thoughts on any of this?

I've been following this- really interesting story with tons of "what-ifs?". I have friends that a huge PSU fans- they also say that CJO'B held that program together. I honestly don't know much about Mack Brown. I'd hope the next coach would be able to keep the fans' support. I liked O'Brien's approach in that he did his own thing, and moved forward. Brown was the first name that came to mind of tenured displaced coaches.  I'm not really sure of any up-and-comer that would consider PSU a destination spot.  It'll be interesting to watch it unfold.

Some of his comments are crazy! Although I bet Crean said some of the same things like about Knight. Coaches are wired way differently than fans in that regard.

Looks like James Franklin from Vandy will be PSUs next HC.  He's from the state and has won 24 in 3 yrs at Vandy.  Sounds like a good hire for PSU.
