BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – After two weeks away from the U-Gym, wrestling is back in Bloomington. The Hoosiers continue a dual meet slate with 5-of-7 matches at home in 2018 on Friday evening when they meet Michigan State. Points will come at a premium as both teams are chomping at the bit for their first conference win.

Leading the way for Indiana are a pair of Michiganders, Cole Weaver (141) and Devin Skatzka (174), who host the Spartans for the first time in their careers. Weaver, ranked as high as 16th, is set to enter the bout of the evening against No. 20 Javier Gasca with Weaver seeking his first win over the fifth-year Spartan.

On the sidelines, Indiana head coach Duane Goldman will clash with one of his former wrestlers, MSU head coach Roger Chandler, for the first time in Goldman's storied career.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – After two close battles against ranked conference foes in their final road trip of the regular season, Indiana's wrestling team is ready to close the year with a three-meet home stand. This weekend's home double is the first for Indiana this season as they prepare to host No. 14 Illinois and No. 24 Purdue at University Gymnasium.

The projected matchups present important weekends for Elijah Oliver (125) and No. 13 Cole Weaver (141), who both face two ranked grapplers as they look to firm up the foundation of their NCAA Championships résumés. In Sunday's rivalry meet against the Boilermakers, No. 18 Devin Skatzka (174) faces a rematch with No. 9 Dylan Lydy after the two went to sudden victory at Midlands last December.

All that and more will stream live via FloWrestling and BTN Plus.

Last Week: Road Warriors
The Hoosiers completed their 2017-18 road schedule last weekend with two hard-fought results on the western edge of Big Ten country.  Indiana led No. 21 Wisconsin at half and had the No. 16 Huskers tied at intermission, but fell to both on the final team score by five points apiece.

Cole Weaver (141) led four Hoosiers with 2-0 weekends, pinning Eli Stickley in 34 seconds before beating No. 13 Chad Red in tiebreakers. Garrett Pepple (133) secured a first period pin to help Indiana split the bout card, 5-5, with Nebraska. Elijah Oliver (125) extended his win streak to nine matches, while Devin Skatzka (174) gained two wins including a major decision against Wisconsin's Ryan Christensen.

Weaver Fever
The most captivating storyline of Indiana's 2017-18 season has been the rise of junior Cole Weaver (141), who's wrestling better than ever in a career burdened by a pair of injury setbacks. No. 13 Weaver (22-6) scored nine dual points in two wins last weekend, led by his ranked win over Nebraska's Chad Red.

Weaver gets another double doozy with two ranked opponents at home this weekend, meeting No. 12 Mike Carr (ILL) before a rematch with No. 17 Nate Limmex (PU). Weaver topped Limmex, 9-4, at Midlands.

Series History: Hoosiers vs. Illini
One of the longest-standing series for Indiana, the Hoosiers will battle with the Illini in their 84th dual meet against one another on Friday night. Illinois leads the series, 44-38-1, and have won the last five encounters. Indiana seeks their first series win since the 2009-10 season.

Fans will see 11 combined wrestlers return from last year's dual meet in Champaign, a 28-9 Illini win, but only one rematch is projected. At 125, Elijah Oliver and No. 19 Travis Piotrowski will encore last year's thrilling dual opener. Piotrowski won by decision, 5-4, in the only match between he and Oliver.

Series History: Hoosiers vs. Boilermakers
The 94th all-time dual between Indiana and Purdue sets the stage for another series classic, as both could battle for their first conference win on Sunday afternoon. The Hoosiers lead the storied series, 53-38-3, but Purdue have taken the last seven meetings.

As many as 10 returning starters from last year's meet at Mackey Arena, but with weight shifts no dual meet rematches are expected. Two replays from Midlands are on the docket, however, and both are ranked matchups. No. 13 Cole Weaver and No. 17 Nate Limmex face a rematch from the Midlands Semifinals; No. 18 Devin Skatzka (174) expects to meet a foe from Midlands, No. 9 Dylan Lydy.

Up Next: Closing with the 'Cats
The Hoosiers put the finishing touches on their 2017-18 regular season a week from Sunday, as they host No. 17 Northwestern on February 11 at  1:00 p.m. ET. Indiana traveled to Ryan Arena last year and won, 23-14, but the Wildcats are the Big Ten's breakout team this season with wins over No. 20 Wisconsin and No. 18 Minnesota.

After that, Indiana will take to the room as they ready the lineup for the upcoming Big Ten Wrestling Championships, March 3-4 in East Lansing.

Back Points...
• Cole Weaver (141) and Devin Skatzka (174) share the top of IU's pin leaderboard, at six apiece, but Skatzka leads on fall time with his six coming in 15:14, compared to Weaver's 17:47 aggregate time. Weaver recorded Indiana's fastest fall of the season, at 34 seconds, last weekend at Wisconsin.

• Junior Elijah Oliver (125) remains unbeaten in Big Ten dual meets this season, at 5-0. Oliver has won his last nine matches, the longest winning streak by a Hoosier this season.

• At 297 career dual meet wins, head coach Duane Goldman is close to crossing the 300-win career milestone.

Cayden lost to Asa Garcia in the state final at 126. He beat Garcia twice (once being a week earlier at semi state) and Garcia beat him twice. I think I saw somewhere that Garcia has committed to Duke.
