The new targeting rule is garbage!

Recommended Posts

What's next? College and pro flag football? Just saying...everything was fine for years before, but now they are turning all contact sports into p**** sports. It's ridiculous and going to ridiculous lengths. Just my 2 cents.

Honestly I don't have a problem with the rule. Too many players are going for SC Top 10 hits that it is extremely dangerous. That being said, you can tell when someone is "targeting" and when they are just trying to make a good play and hit.

I had a feel big hit was going to = targeting in ref's minds. It's a damn shame. Let the kids play!

There was a much worse hit in the ND/Pitt game last night that WASN'T called targeting, just a PF.

I'm not sure what hit you're referring to.  But the hit that was called for targeting during the ND/Pitt game was just a football hit.  Two players who both went low.  The subjectivity is terrible.  If the NCAA wants to review hits after the fact, fine.  I don't think the officials should be tasked w/calling these considering the speed of the game.

Wait, are you referring to when the kid on Pitt got hurt?  Coles I believe his name was?  Regardless, he was hit by his own teammate and Musberger (I think that's who was calling it) was using that injury as a rationale for the targeting rule.  Dude...did you not just see that it was his teammate that hit him trying to make the tackle?  I was burning hot last night watching that portion of the game.
