(2017) SF Kris Wilkes to UCLA

Recommended Posts

Really interesting list. I probably wouldn't have had UCONN on the list and would have had Michigan and UNC for Illinois. Xavier gives me a bit of a scare but they are completely stacked with wings. They had the CB nod for Samuels as well. Do they make a push for Wilkes and how does that effect other wing recruits? UCLA gives me a bit of a scare with their Indiana connections and with the way they've been recruiting. I don't really see the pull from Ill or UCONN.

I think uconn getting in his top 5 shows the advantage of certain coaches that are involved with team USA having a little advantage. Wilkes mentioned working with coach Ollie at USA tryouts as a reason for including them. He wasn't the first recruit to mentioned that and he won't be the last

Kris will commit somewhere around Hoosier Hysteria this year. UCLA and Xavier are the main competition but staying in the midwest seems to be somewhat of a factor. I do not think he is as high on Xavier as Scruggs is since he can get his playing time, as a 6'8 SF, anywhere. Hoosiers are in the best position and I would almost bet money on his commitment.

I highly doubt Crean will be asked to help with Team USA anytime soon. Hopefully proximity pays off.

UCLA has really jumped up there. I believe it was IU 38% with UNC and Mich getting some votes but UCLA has jumped up from a few days ago.

Yeah I'm wondering what does the UNC pick change to.  Do the cloudy change?  Does anybody else chime in.

I think we have to be the most alluring. We are going to be offering a team composed of talent players at every position. With 2 senior guards maybe 3 if JBJ stays. At least 1 junior forward maybe 2 if OG stays. And a sophomore Big Man. That's at worst an incredible starting five. At best an incredible first 7 off the bench with a few sophmores who could prove talented.

Let's just hope he's not dead set on playing with Scruggs

Is the time of commitment as set in stone as recruiting gets? Any plans for Kris to visit during HH? Getting an OV for Scruggs around the same time would be nice!

UConn, UCLA and Xavier have been in the Top 20-25 best programs the last decade. UConn and UCLA probably Top 10. That's tough to go against.

I'll give you UCONN but I disagree with UCLA. Exactly 9 and 10 years ago they made back to back final 4s but they really haven't been consistently good for 8 years now. I like our chances against this list. I will say Xavier worries me. Scruggs seems to be a Xavier lean and Wilkes recent list is screaming package deal.

Scruggs has already had his OV to IU, I believe. He could always come back for an unofficial, being so close.

It was originally thought that Kris would be a Spring decision until recently when things really picked up and he got serious about his recruitment. I could see both sides aiming for Hoosier Hysteria so that's definitely a possibility. He should be signed in November.
