(2017) SF Kris Wilkes to UCLA

Harden made $200 million through a shoe deal. These kids are positioning themselves to one day get a big pay day.
At the same time I don't care about these kids because typically they care about just themselves. Not Hoosier material, don't care how high ranked you are.

I agree. But they don't need to remain loyal to one shoe company to cash in.

Yes u do when younger. Shoe people want stability. If a kid ditches one shoe company the kid could get other shoes but won't be bankrolled. It's an evil numbers game.

I have heard that shoe companies offer "contracts" to top rated players.  They get paid when they fulfill their obligations in college which is either graduating or declaring for pros.  THIS IS WHY (one of the reasons) some kids jump when they are not fully ready and at a good draft position.  After they are out of school they can be legally paid but the negotiations happen during HS and the contract is fulfilled at the end of college.

Believe it or not, but I am quite sure it works something very similar to this.

I also think this is a big part of the Calipari genius.

This is what John Calipari's have pocketed so far, not including whats to come from blockbuster deals recently signed. This is staggering.  Nike has a lot to do with this figure.

John Wall $37,717,125
Demarcus Cousins: $29,838,286
Enes Kanter: $25,567,009
Anthony Davis: $23,198,010
Eric Bledsoe: $20,104,069
Brandon Knight: $15,880,357
Patrick Patterson: $14,434,196
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist: $14,429,520
Nerlens Noel: $6,487,440
Terrence Jones: $4,655,520
Marquis Teague: $3,052,640
Julius Randle: $3,064,800
Archie Goodwin: $2,176,680
James Young: $1,674,480
Darius Miller: $1,662,476
Daniel Orton: $883,370
Deandre Liggins: $381,193
Josh Harrellson: $381,193

Total Earned: $205,588,364

Bingo. That's why Anthony Davis hugged W.W.W. before his parents when the Paycats won it all.

It sucks and has destroyed college ball but that's where we are.

Is this thread about Wilkes or Kentucky?
Im hoping we keep recruiting Wilkes hard because he is going to be a special player

Kind of relevant since they're all over him.I agree we got a little off track.

I hope we can lock this 17 class up.Need a special season to get things rolling again.
