Indiana University is in its 120th season of competition in men's basketball and begins a stretch of 4 of 5 on the road when it goes to Michigan on Sunday. The Hoosiers earned their 4th win against a ranked opponent (t-4th in the nation) when it beat #21/17 Iowa, 89-77, on Thursday night. According to ESPN's BPI, the Hoosiers are projected to have the 4th toughest strength of schedule in the country for the remainder of the season.

THE COACHES
Indiana Coach Archie Miller is in his third season of guiding the Cream and Crimson.  He is 190-102 in eight-plus years as a head coach, which includes six years at the University of Dayton.  His Flyer teams made NCAA Tournament appearances in each of his last four seasons, including a trip to the Elite Eight in 2014.  He is 51-39 at IU.  Juwan Howard is in his first year with the Wolverines and is 15-9.

NEWS & NOTES
Freshman Trayce Jackson-Davis was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week for the 4th time this season after he had 16 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 blocked shots against Purdue.  He followed that up with his 7th double-double of the season with 17 points and 10 boards against Iowa. He is averaging a team-best 14.0- points and 8.0 rebounds.   He is just one of four freshman nationally (Vernon Carey, Jr. - Duke, Zeke Nnaji - Arizona and Isiah Stewart - Washington) to lead his team in scoring, rebounds, field goal percentage, free throws made and free throws attempted and blocked shots.  In the Big Ten, Jackson-Davis is the top freshman scorer overall and in conference games (13.0).  He also leads in overall and conference play in field goal percentage (59.0 and 53.2), blocked shots (1.9 and 1.8), free throws made (99 and 51) and attempts (138 and 69).  He is second overall and in league games in rebounding (8.0 and 7.3).  He is 7th in the Big Ten in rebounding, 2nd in field goal percentage and 7th in blocked shots. 

Among players in the B1G who have come off the bench 10 or more times this season, senior Devonte Green leads the conference averaging 11.7 points in those games. He exploded against Iowa with 27 points and hit 7 of 11 3FG.Sophomore Rob Phinisee is the team's top 3-point shooter making 39.6% of his attempts.  He is second on the team with 61 assists and had 12 points, 5 assists and 3 steals against Iowa.  Redshirt sophomore Race Thompson played a career-high 25 minutes against Iowa and set career-bests for points (10) and steals (4). Junior Justin Smith is averaging 11.0 points and leads the Hoosiers with 26 steals. Redshirt junior forward Joey Brunk is 2nd in the conference in field goal percentage in B1G games only at 55.7%. Junior Aljami Durham leads the team in assists with 61.  

ODDS AND TRENDS
The Hoosiers 45 bench points vs. Iowa were the second-most they have had this season (46, N. Ala.)  In its last 5 games, IU is shooting 42.9% from 3-point range and made a season-best 11 against Iowa. IU also matched its best defense of the season with 11 steals. The 22 assists against Maryland were a season-high and the 6 turnovers in that game were a season low.  The Hoosiers have shot a B1G high 573 free throws, including 32 against Iowa.

In his last six games Jerome Hunter has shot 10-of-21 from behind the arc (47.6 percent) after a 4-for-28 (14.2 percent) start to the season.

If his body can handle it he needs to play 25+ minutes a game. He’s the only guy we have with length that can stretch the floor
