Just turned this game on and I don't watch much women's basketball. I may have to turn it off cause soon as I put it on Minnesota started cashing 3s on us. I am bad luck I think

Few thoughts on the first half:

-Need to figure out a way to start with a better energy. Last few games the 1st quarter we’ve dug ourselves a hole and it seems like it’s on the defensive end letting up easy drives to the hoop.
-Grace Berger. Man, I wish I could bottle up her mid range game and make every player on the men’s team drink a gallon of it before each game. So smooth and she shots it with such confidence. Breathe of fresh air watching her shoot the rock.
-Ali Patberg is our motor and plays hard every game. Love her, BUT, in end of half or end of game situations someone else needs to have the ball. Couple games in a row when she has tried to create a shot with under 10 seconds on the clock and either gotten blocked or didn’t even get a shot off. Her game is better pushing on the break or coming off screens. She doesn’t have the ability to make something happen one on one with the clock running down IMO. I’d rather see Penn or Berger with the ball in those situations.
-this is a big half for our confidence. Would be nice if they could open it up and win comfortably. Get some positive Mo going with Wiscy coming into town, and take that feeling into the Purdue game.

Minnesota certainly can't complain about IU home cookin' on the fouls.

12 fouls called on IU to Minny’s 6. Berger getting mauled and they call a jump ball. Ball comes off the rim and Jorie Allen ties up the Minny rebounder and the blow a whistle almost before the girl gets the ball rebounded.

IU will take a 48-39 lead into the 4th Q.   Thank heavens we have Grace Berger  --  22 pts. on 10-12 FG  and 7 reb.

Points:  Berger 22 / Penn 11 / Patberg 9

Reb:  Berger 7 / Gulbe & Wise 4 / Penn 3

Gulbe with 3 fouls is our only player in foul trouble.

Wasn't necessarily pretty but our Hoosiers get a 65-52 win.  Grace Berger with her first career double-double and we needed every bit of what she did tonight.  Our first double-double of this season.

Points:  Berger 25 on 10-13 new career high / Penn 15 / Patberg 11                 IU 20-24 on FTs and only 1-9 on 3s.

Reb.:   Berger 11 / Gulbe  7                 We outrebounded Minny 40-33 but they did get 9 off. bds.

Finished with just 9 TOs after having 8 at halftime.  Team shot 22-52 for 42% but take away Berger's 10-13 and the rest of the team was only 12-39 for 31%.

Thursday night we host Wisconsin at 7:00

Well, a win. Pretty easy to sum it up: Grace Berger and good free throw shooting. That was how it happened. At home, against a Minnesota team that is 2-7 in conference, this was a game they were supposed to win. I said after the losing streak that they had a good chance to be 8-3 heading into a big game at home against Maryland, and they’re half way there. Gonna need more out of our post players, Gulbe and Holmes, to compete for a B1G title, because we aren’t a prolific 3-point shooting team. Need to establish the post again in the next couple games. Grace Berger, hats off, great game. Beat a team we should have and closed it out with solid free throw shooting. On to the next. Beat Wiscy at home and get the rivalry game against Purdue and we will have a big home game with conference title and NCAA seeding implications at home against the Terrapins. Go get ‘em ladies.

A little ugly but we closed out this time with no problem. Second of three straight against bottom feeders you cannot lose and so far we have controlled these games. Stretch after that will show how high the ceiling is with a lot of 50-50 games against mid-level teams.

Still need to work on our starts but once we get it going we are unstoppable. Still afraid that NW game is going to cost us Big Ten Title but everything is still very much in play.

Also attendance was 3,500 tonight which for a Monday night is amazing. Not to long ago that took a special promotion or a perfectly timed weekend game. Now it's a starting point with big crowds nearly doubling that. Keep winning and building the program.
