IUBB vs MSU Game Thread 1/23 8:30 FS1

When was the other throwing incident? I only remember the one close to Vic. And did they escort that person out? I saw the students pointing and ratting him out and security come down the steps but that was it. And the chant...I was NOT pleased about at all. I fully agree, we are better than that.

Pregame we saw a group flipping coins at MSU players from behind the basket. One of the MSU staff went over and talked to the group. There was a group of three or four girls. Didn’t make it a big deal. The students showed up last night. I don’t know how it came across tv, but that was the hottest in person crowd I have been to since the UNC game in November 2012. Personally I think they won us that game. Izzo kept them in the locker room until 3 minutes before the game started which is unusual for him. I think a lot had to do with how hot the students were before the game started.

I noticed during the players post-game press it looked like Joey leaned over and slapped TJD on the knee several times. It appears these guys really enjoy each other and that's starting to show on the court as a team.  I love what Joey brings to the team. Great win last night.

My daughter and AF are friends over social media. He told her that after one of the games this year during the player presser TJD kept pulling his leg hair under the table (or vice versa) to put him in tilt. I think these antics happen all the time but it shows that they are a pretty tight knit bunch when they go on. Really nice to see after the perceived attitude from last years squad.

Tom Izzo is my least favorite coach in all of college basketball.  I despise him and cannot stomach his arrogant attitude or his cry-baby antics.  Even Calipari will at least admit when he is out-coached or his players are out-played and give credit to the other team.  I don't believe I have ever heard Izzo give credit to Indiana (and I would guess never to any other team either) because he has a victim's mentality and he always has urine-poor excuses and complains about everything.  I absolutely despise Tom Izzo, and because of that, MSU is the only team from the Big Ten I root against in March Madness.

Yeah what an @$$!

Don't think he likes Archie much.Wonder if the last three meetings have had that effect?I can't stand him or how he runs that program.

I just went back and watched the ending. Not only was there nothing close to a foul after they missed, but the whistle isn't even heard until 0.2. I have no idea how the officials determined 1) How there was a foul, or 2) Why the clock should say 0.6 instead of 0.2, unless they realized MSU needed more than 0.2 to get one last shot off.

Just a very bizarre, even shady, sequence there.

I just watched it again, too, and Tillman didn't even touch Hunter at the end. I guess it's fine to have the two extra points, but still ...

Also, I wish they'd make some sort of rule as to what can and can't happen with under a second left. It's too difficult for the clock operator and officials to accurately monitor such situations. With six-tenths of a second to play, Winston caught the ball, turned and shot a 65-footer. Now, it didn't matter if he made it or not, but I just don't think it's humanly possible to do all that in just more than a half-second. I thought that years ago, when they first started indicating tenths of seconds, they said if there was :00.7 or less to play, all you could do was tip the ball. When there's less than a second to play, I just don't think it's humanly possible to catch the ball and take a jump shot.

(Also, I cannot believe how fortunate we were that Tillman's tip rolled out. Reminded me of the game at Michigan in 2013. Crazy that the ball didn't go in.)

Don't think 2 games are going to change people's minds one way or the other. People that wanted him fired are still extremely skeptical I'm sure and people that don't want him fired will continue to back him during poor performances. People's opinions weren't based off of just a few games here and there regardless of which way you lean

The same people who want him fired can't watch them play, see the team getting healthier, see one kid getting benched, watch the execution and obvious steady improvement and reach a logical conclusion?   That tells me a whole lot about anyone who's still on that elementary bandwagon.   Couple of games here and there?   Team's 15-4, has the best record in the Big Ten against ranked opponents (two ranked #6 and #7 in Sagarin yesterday) and it's spun merely as "a few games here and there."  Yep.  Got it.

Said the exact same thing last night. There was no foul there at all. Tillman is barely touching Hunter after he gets the rebound.

Izzo REALLY doesn’t care for Archie Miller.

Went that whole presser without referring to CAM once. The blow by handshake. And the there’s that whole replacing his buddy CTC thing.

Good, I don't want his approval. And for the record I said things about Izzo's mom last night that would make a Bangkok ***** blush. I don't like him or respect him or wish him well. He run's a program full of thugs and criminals. Eff you Izzo you bloated little zit, I'm sure your players will abuse some girls to make them feel better.

Keep in mind the overall NET ranking is used as a sorting tool. It groups teams together that have similar numbers. Once that happens they will compare the team sheets. The number inside the team sheet are way more important then the overall NET number. IU has 3 top 25 Quad 1 wins. While their NET number is 42 their resume is probably stronger then a bunch that are under them. Just keep winning

I know. Sorry I was kinda posting in jest.

It is just funny because Purdue is that one outlier team on Kenpom and all other metrics that stays right where they are despite the results of their games. So it annoys us IU fans.

Where would you have IU now?  I don't want you to have to do a bunch of work but just a ballpark guess.

First off-the environment was amazing last night at Assembly Hall!!! Need to be like that all the time-not just for ranked teams. IU doesn't win that game without Al Durham last night. For him to play as many minutes as he does he needs to contribute at or near the level he did last night. He gave IU great minutes. Thank goodness for Joey Brunk. Wow, what a steal. I bet Butler wishes they had him. He and TJD have changed the culture for this team. Hope Race is okay, he was a monster early in the game. This team needs to take it one game at a time. I don't want to speak too soon, but last night was the most fun I've had watching this team since the tournament win over UK 4 years ago. Really hope things are headed in a good direction. That was probably one of the best if not the best win of Archie's tenure. Season was sort of at a crossroad. If we had lost we'd be in the bubble talk. Now that we won that has to bump us up. Keep winning and it'll take care of itself.

And the same people that have blind faith in him can't watch some of the absolute garbage performances they have and do the same? Sure but are they likely to? Nope. And we've seen trends for 2 1/2 years that suggest the "bad" have been more prevalent than the "good". There is a lot of season left and I'd like to see how it goes. If you want to declare it a success already then go ahead but that tells me a lot about you in that case. On a side note: are you incapable of communicating with people without doing so in a condescending and arrogant way?
