ACC-Big 10 Challenge

Recommended Posts

Can't believe on a basketball crazy forum like this nobody has anything to say about the challenge.

With three games to go the B10 leads 6-5 in a series where the ACC is getting exposed!  The victory margins by the B10 have been +18, +18, +14, +16, *29, and +21.  Only one game in the challenge has been decided by less than 10 points (Illinois came from 27 down to lose by 2).

The last three games (Ohio State, Wisconsin, and Penn State) could all be B10 wins.

The success can't hurt the SOS argument from this point forward.

Love seeing what the rest of the conference looks like.

The final tally was Big 10 wins 7 games, ACC wins 6 which is a wash in the aggregate. However, the Big 10 scored some impressive wins, e.g., #6 Ohio State over #7 North Carolina by 25 points (at North Carolina), unranked Purdue over #5 Virginia by 29 points, unranked Indiana over #17 Florida State by 16 points. But #1 Louisville beat #4 Michigan by 15 points and #10 Duke beat #11 Michigan State by 12 points (at Michigan State).

Big Ten won the challenge with 8 wins to 6 wins. Minnesota, Indiana, Northwestern, Iowa, Purdue, Maryland, Penn State, and Ohio State. Nice look for the conference as a whole.

Number #6 Ohio State's win over #7 North Carolina at Chapel Hill was impressive but decisive victories by unranked teams Indiana and Purdue over ranked teams Florida State (#17) and Virginia (#5) were also impressive. Pre-season forecasters appear to have underestimated IU's potential to compete in the top tier of the conference this season.

My B1G rankings

1. OSU
2. Maryland
3. Michigan
4. IU
5. Penn State
6. Purdue
7. MSU
8. Illinois
9. Iowa
10. Minnesota
11. Wisky
12. Rutgers
13. NW
14. Nebraska

I think the big 10 has 10 teams with NCAA talent. Probably 8 make it.

I think all my top 10 can be dangerous. Heck, even Wisky is hard to rule out.

I’m curious to see how teams play verse conference foes over the next few weeks. There are a couple of solid matchups with what should be upper tier teams going on the road to middle tier teams.

Dec 10
Maryland @ Penn State

Dec 11
Michigan @ Illinois

Dec 15
Ohio State @ Minnesota

I’m also curious how the Big Ten will officiate these games.

Stealing road wins is HUGE in conference play, especially the B1G.

They’ll officiate them as always. Terribly.

Definitely, we’re going to have some really rough conference road games though.

Wiscy
Maryland
Rutgers
Nebraska
Penn State

Ohio State
Michigan
Minnesota
Purdoodoo
Illinois

There are only a few games I feel really confident we’ll win. I think these next few weeks will give us a better idea of what to expect though.

I do know if we score more points than our opponent we’ll win. If we win more conference games than anyone else we’ll win the conference. You heard it here first.

I think the B1G is a toss-up this year.  Other than the last 3, the rest could be decided by a game or two.

Man, this time change really pisses me off. I work till 9 and was looking forward to settling in after I finished up and watching the game. Now, I'll miss most of it. Wonder why they moved it up?

The Wisconsin vs. Louisville game is postponed due to COVID so it opened up an earlier time slot.
