(2021) PG Carter Whitt to Wake Forest

Recommended Posts

Really don't see this kid ever going to a school located west of the Appalachian's but he does have an IU offer and there's been some chatter he would consider a re-class.

Season opener tonight and Leesville Road HS defeated Panther Creek 67-65.  Whitt was Leesville's leading scoring with 18 and had a handful of assists.   {I have no idea what a handful is considered in North Carolina.}

Leesville Road beat Garner 79-68 on Thursday night to bounce back after its first loss of the season.

Junior standout Carter Whitt was in foul trouble early, he picked up three fouls in the first half and had just five points at the break.  Whitt took his fourth foul with just under three minutes to play in the third.  Frazier put Whitt on the bench through the middle of the fourth. He said that things change on the court when you take a player of his caliber out of the game.

Whitt came back out to play with four fouls when Garner pulled it to within 10 points down the stretch.  He finished with 16 points.

Both Leesville and Garner will play in the HighSchoolOT Milbrook Showcase on Saturday.

Although we offered, not sure we're actively pursuing Whitt.

Notre Dame, Virginia Tech, and Wake Forest will be in to see 2021 PG Carter Whitt tomorrow as Leesville takes on rival Millbrook. Whitt is averaging close to a triple-double this year while facing quality competition. There aren’t many guys in the country who are capable of that.

Top-ranked Millbrook survived a scare from No. 14 Leesville Road in a an 84-76 win to preserve its unbeaten record.   The success that Leesville Road had in this game was largely due to junior point guard Carter Whitt's ability to break through Millbrook's difficult pressure and traps.  Often facing a trap of two much taller defenders, Whitt found ways to break through and push the ball forward for his team with numbers on the other side of the press.  Whitt was able to knock down two three-pointers in the fourth quarter to contribute to his game-high 22 points and 8 assists.

More on Whitt and his game last night from Miles Masercola of phenomhoopreport.com -

6’3 2021 Carter Whitt: Leesville Road High School (22 Points, 8 Assists, 1 Turnover)

Carter Whitt showed everyone in attendance last night why he’s ranked at or near the top by absolutely everyone in North Carolina’s 2021 class last night. He did an unbelievable job coordinating with his teammates on overcoming Millbrook’s pressure (for the most part) and showed excellent trust in his teammates while running the team. He has special vision with the ball in his hands to go with the ability to finish at the rim in traffic. He can make shots from the outside off the catch or dribble and has incredible timing on the offensive end in every way. He’s a good athlete and is becoming a better defender in every viewing, doing a great job forcing deflections and turnovers within the zone last night. He was often the guy sent to double Will Felton whenever he touched the ball and did a nice job not letting him get his shot off. He will continue to be recruited at a very high level.

Whitt was ejected in the 3rd Q.  I'm in the process of backing up another computer and missed it.  Hopefully someone out there saw what happened and will fill us in.

I missed it as well but apparently he dropped an F bomb and got ejected

Yeah, that's what I'm seeing as well.  Confusion seems to be rampant over why the ejection for a single technical vs. the usual 2 for an ejection.   Maybe a North Carolina 'house rule'???????

3 min. left and Leesville trails by 17 so this game is effectively over.  Strange turn of events for Leesville and Whitt with his 3rd Q ejection.  Stranger still is the fact he didn't leave the gym and has been seated on the team bench since his ejection.  Might learn more in the morning.
