Class of '66 Old Fart

(2021) SF - Aminu Mohammed to Georgetown

Recommended Posts

Fantastic player. Oladipo 2.0. Elite athlete and really competes. Love him. His brother is a Sr at Missouri St and Greenwood is located on the Mo St campus. Was told by a Greenwood parent at one of their games that Mohammed and his brother are really close. So I imagine he plays at Greenwood this year and probably finishes elsewhere after his brother graduates.

A Lander/Mohammed backcourt would be incredible to watch.

Here's his AAU stats I picked up from the Nike circuit box scores and these stats don't match with the ones I found earlier.  He was playing 'up' and averaged 30 min/game.

So....

“WOW, but lay off the 3”.

Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

Saw him a total of 4 times last year and his shot is actually fine, though he has some leftward drift. But he was good for 1-2 just jaw droppingly bad 3’s per game and I assume AAU would tend to exacerbate that tendency. But he made a decent % of his decent looks.

Stock Risers -

He’s one of the nation’s highly-touted junior’s and his name is Aminu Mohammed. He’s the shining star for Greenwood in the Missouri area. Last year, Mohammed scored over 40 points in a handful of games.

As for his recruiting, his guardian, Shawn Harmon gave me an update on his recruitment which includes possible visits.

“Washington and SMU are the new programs that are recruiting Aminu,” Harmon said.

As in terms of which schools are still actively recruiting Mohammed, Harmon is really happy that the schools involved remain involved. Among those schools:

Louisville, Seton Hall, Indiana, Maryland, and Kansas State. He visited K-State on November 3rd and with the 2020 class done for them, he’s now likely the program’s top priority.

Harmon says that they’re working on taking more visits, says that he’s been in touch with Louisville’s Chris Mack and Mike Pegues and is also working on possibly visiting K-State on December 9th.

Also, Seton Hall and Iowa could get visits as well.

Mohammed's team has been participating in the Pierce City Invitational the past several days; however, I've not been able to find any details for the games or of his individual performance other than the following from Jake Weingarten:

Another monster performance for five-star junior Aminu Mohammed:  42 points, 20 rebounds and four assists. Won tournament MVP.  Averaged 38 points and 17 rebounds over the past few days.

Big time

Yeah. The roster is gonna have a slew of wing guards by 21-22, but if this kid wants to come you take him. He’s on a different level. You win NC’s with kids like Mohammed.

Springfield news-leader.com:  Aminu Mohammed is still pretty good

For the second year in a row, Greenwood is the Pierce City Tournament champion.  Junior star Aminu Mohammed picked up where he left off after leading the Blue Jays to a state title a year ago.

Greenwood opened with an 80-47 win over Verona as Mohammed went for 25 points and 17 rebounds.  Grant Harper recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 assists.

The Blue Jays followed with a 90-53 win over College Heights. Mohammed scored 20 points in the third quarter and scored 48 points and 15 rebounds.  Harper, again, finished with a double-double as he went for 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Mohammed's 48-point output was good enough for the fourth-highest scoring game in city history.  He owns the No. 1 spot at 53 points in a win over Billings a year ago.

Billings was also the team the Blue Jays beat for the Pierce City Tournament title on Saturday evening. Mohammed scored 42 points and grabbed 20 rebounds while Tommy Pinegar added 18 points in an 84-53 victory.
