• Indiana begins a stretch of 9 of its next 10 games at home beginning with the Wright State Raiders on Wednesday at 4 p.m.  Wednesday will be the 25th ever meeting between IU and Wright State. The two squads last met on March 27, 2004, an 8-1 victory for the Hoosiers.  Indiana leads the all-time series between the two schools, 17-7.

• Indiana Head Coach Jeff Mercer is in his first season with the Hoosiers and his 10th overall year in coaching collegiately. He has posted an 94-58 career record after leading Wright State to winning seasons in each of his two years with the Raiders, including a 2018 Horizon League title and NCAA Regional appearance.

• Wright State Head Coach Alex Sogard is in his first season as head coach with the Raiders. He was a two-year assistant under Mercer at Wright State, where he was on the staff that won the 2018 Horizon League regular-season and tournament titles and a berth to the NCAA Tournament.

• Indiana is coming off a successful weekend in which it took two of three games from the Maryland Terrapins to improve to 5-1 in Big Ten play.  The Hoosiers, who outscored the Terrapins 39-11 this past weekend, have outscored their Big Ten oppoenents, 62-15, and have won 10 of their last 12 games in a dating back to March 23.

Huge game and one of the best teams at that level and Mercer's old school. I know the Wright St. program well from my days working college baseball. Their stadium is probably the nicest you can have at that level and a poor man's Bart Kaufman Field and I mean that nicely in that its a very similar layout but slightly less nice (but still amazing for that level). They also are only team in Horizon that actually draws fans from the community and not just family and friends in the crowd.

We are better but they are probably the best midweek team we play besides Louisville and UK so this is a big one. We need to be on top of our game to knock them off. Think of them as a Belmont equivalent in basketball terms for the level they are at. I will be watching full game again and providing updates on here.

RPI is currently 33. A win bumps us up to high 20's, loss drops us to high 30's.

First off broadcast having all kinds of problems. Most importantly the center field cam that generally shows the batter batting is not working so you are seeing the press box cam during at bat. Also scoreboard was not working but they appear to have fixed that. Lastly audio slightly muffled but not bad.

As for game for some reason IU starting a new guy named McCabe Brown who has never pitched this year rather than Franklin or Bierman who have been solid. Have no idea what thought was there. Predictability he walks the bases loaded in between a strikeout. Than Jeremy Houston correctly took a sure out at first on a slow bouncer rather than throw home or try a double play at 2nd which could of led to disaster. Good fundamental decision that has not always been there. As result Brown ends inning with strikeout and Wright St gets just 1 and we go to bottom 1st. Given what could of happened i'll take it.

Gorski singles to center on line drive to lead off but Ashley hits into double play on grounder back to pitcher. Than Lloyd works a long at bat with a full count and walks, then Dunham works a full count and hits one right on screws on line drive to right but unfortunately right at fielder so inning ends. 1-0 Wright St. after 1.

With that said our approach at plate looks much better recently and working counts and striking out less hence the major improvement on offense last few weeks,

Really nice defensive play for first out with Ashley moving to his right at 2nd in hole and making a good throw to 1st for out, than Lloyd gets easy ground out unassisted at first before an easy fly out to Richardson in right ends it.

Other than the walks despite trailing we are definitely ready to play today unlike last week against Kent St and our 2 biggest bugaboos on defense and patient approach at plate are good so hopefully if we keep this up things will go our way rest of game.

After the HR Richardson our hottest hitter strikes out, than Bradley grounds out to short on first pitch, than Houston strikes out on another full count. 1-1 to 3rd.

In 3rd easy pop out to Gorski in medium deep center, than a deep flyout to left that Richardson catches on warning track in front of bullpen followed by a walk and an RBI double off the right field wall gives Wright State the lead back. Very close play at plate but Wright St able to slide around the Wyatt Cross tag. Than a hit batter causes a pitching change as Brown leaves and Cam Beauchamp comes in. He does no better as a grounder through the hole past 2nd makes it 3-1. Finally Beauchamp gets out of it with a strikeout.

Wright St playing our game today of maximizing opportunities with 3 runs on just 2 hit off very few chances.

Also center field camera still not fixed and sight audio issues persist on broadcast.

Cross grounds into shift on first base side, than Gorski grounds to third on first pitch, than Ashley strikes out on 3 pitches.

That patience and good approach from 1st 2 innings not there in 3rd.

Line drive single to right, sac bunt down first base line gets out at first, than a walk, another walk, than a huge strikeout followed by another huge strikeout and Raiders don't score. Thats a huge moment if we can get a couple runs and get back in it as we go to bottom 4.

Lloyd grounds out to first on nice defensive play, Dunham gets infield single off pitchers glove, Barr strikes out and then a high chop to first ends up with a nice play by Wright St first baseman and we go to 5th.

Rough start to 5th as Bierman comes in and greeted infield single to 2nd, hit batter, sac bunt, sac fly, wild pitch to score run from third before a flyout puts us halfway home. 5-1. We have some work to do. Not our best game but also Wright State just taking it to us more than anything. We have not made any horrible mistakes as we have in some games.

Iu does nothing in 5th. I am not going to continue to provide play by play updates unless game gets tighter so just know if I don't post further nothing has happened.

Apparently Justin Houston instead of going to Colts has decided to play shortstop for IU per the announcer as he mistakes him for Jeremy Houston who makes a really nice play at short to get an out. Kind of funny actually.

Not so funny: Wright State adds 2 runs on a single, went to 2nd on a wild pitch, moved to third on aforementioned ground out and scored on another wild pitch. Also a HR added on a line drive rocket to right that clears the picnic area beyond the wall.

This is just not our day and we trail 7-2 at stretch.

Jeremy Houston makes first out and still gets called Justin Houston by announcer so apparently he really does not know. Its a different guy who I don't believe has done it before and it shows as he also called Beauchamp's name wrong. Two more easy outs made as well and we head to 8th with IU trailing 7-4.

The good: They finally fixed the center field camera that inning and audio issues a few innings ago so other than announcers lack of study to learn names everything in order on broadcast now.

Gorski just made a great diving catch to save a leadoff single in 8th! As I said its just been one of those bad days and other than a couple wild pitches our defense has been very good unlike some games this year.
