The Season Is Finally Over, Now Where Does This Program Go?

We went

12-2

1-12

6-2

We had more than enough talent to make the tourney. Reality is not based on your expectations.

We did have enough talent. Then our PG got a concussion and missed Ames and he wasn’t the same until about 5 games left in the season. Crazy how we went on a losing streak then. Deron got injured. Race got injured. Green got suspended. That’s 3 of our best players. This also also reality and explains the 1-12. You realize if we go 3-10 or 2-11 we make the NCAA right? So all your worry is literally over 1 possible win while we were injured.

Yes injuries explain the team not even trying against several opponents.

We should hire one of Michigan States Assistant Coaches as our Head Coach.

Is their anyone there qualified?

Not sure- but having played for IU doesn't make you qualified to coach IU. I don't care about IU ties, I want the best coach available.

Anyway, moot at this point. Barring something extraordinary IU won't be looking for a coach for at least 2yrs and hopefully much longer.

Archie has done better in his first 2 years here than Pearl did at Auburn, as he should. Took Pearl 4 years to get it going down there and he is a damn good coach.

Perhaps the Rifleman didn’t have any ammo until after the first couple of years!

I’m sure if we follow the Auburn recruiting model we will be successful by year 4. We might have a couple assistant coaches facing federal charges, but that doesn’t seem to matter much in today’s landscape of college basketball.

Starting 4 freshman and sophs explains the inconsistent effort and level of performance. It’s called growing pains. It’s why good to great coaches take 3-4 years to build a program up. Unless you get 3-4 one and dones it can’t happen over night.

OSU disagrees. Tourney in year one. Texas Tech and Arizona also made the tourney in year 2.

A 1-12 stretch is hardly growing pains when the rest of the year is 16-4. That’s a coach that can’t control his team.

Lol. OSU ha quality talent for Holtmann. Thad Matta left bc of health. He didn’t get fired for being crap. Holtmann walked into a much better situation than Archie. Just like Archie has a better situation than Underwood.

Everybody agreed at the time that Holtmann had a worse hand. 7 scholarship players and less time. Your just revising history to try and fit your narrative. Had Archie developed his players like Holtmann has we would be fine right now.

Everybody agreed? That would be amazing if that happened
