IU Men's Soccer Spring Schedule

Recommended Posts

Will be curious to see what we do with all new players and think depth will show. I think we will look pretty young in the spring and early in the season but much like Nova in basketball this yr. who gutted an entire team by conference play we should be right there with Maryland.

#IUMS opened the spring with 2 wins today in 9v9 action!  IU beat Valparaiso, 4-1, on a brace from Ian Black and goals from Simon Waever and Ryan Wittenbrink.  Hoosiers then beat UIndy, 5-0, with both Black and Joe Schmidt scoring two goals each. Wittenbrink also netted a score.

Good to know. Glad to see we are still far better and equally dominant against a low D1 team and DII team despite flipping entire team.

Also nice to see Ian Black and Joe Schmidt did well. They looked pretty good in mop up minutes last yr so hopefully they can play well with a much bigger role now and thats a good start. The other 2 guys didn't play last yr. so no clue what they are like but know program is high on Wittenbrink.

Black off to a solid start. We take a road trip to Mexico City on 3/12 and 3/14 next.

@IndianaMSOC: #IUMS earned a 1-0 win over DePaul yesterday at Grand Park, as Ian Black notched his fifth goal of the spring! Hoosier goalkeepers Sean Caulfield and Jacob Gruber combined for the shutout! #Q49 #GoIU

I recognize all those players outside of Munie.

Caulfield was back up goalie last yr. Kleyn was backup defender who played a fair amount and has started in past. Maher was starting defender last year. Waever transfered in from Evansville. Palo was a regularly used backup. Yeagley is Todd's son and didn't play and redshirted. Schmidt played sparingly as backup. Wittenbrink redshirted as a high ranked recruit. Glass was an occasional starter and played regularly and was best non-starter and will probably be star of this years team. Black was a lightly used backup like Schmidt in mop up time but has dominated in spring so far.

This team while not best in country is still a top 25 team and doesn't even includes most of next years recruits. Amazing how much depth this team has. Curious to see them at Grand Park vs. Notre Dame in April and how they look.

IU won 1-0. Again its ridiculous in a good way that Ian Black who couldn't see the field except in mop up time last yr is now our star player. We certainly look like we have not missed a beat this spring especially on D despite turning over the entire team and this does not even include next years recruits.  We keep guys on bench and red shirting who would start and be solid players at 90% of other schools.

@IndianaMSOC: FINAL | Indiana 2, Louisville 1.

Hoosiers (7-1) end the spring season on a high note, beating UL on the road thanks to goals from Thomas Warr and Ian Black. Sean Caulfield with one save in goal for IU. #Q49 #GoIU
