Indiana vs Butler Game Thread 12/15

We used our last timeout and Butler kinda figured it was going to Romeo like everyone else. Coach may want to draw up a double screen next time as Romeo coming to the ball wont work. Rob bailed us out.

Eh, they could have called a foul on that earlier in the game. Late game they never call that, but Romeo was getting bodied/held pretty badly on the cut. Again they almost never, ever call that a foul in late game situations, but they let the Butler defender get away with a lot of contact

I think there will be opportunities going forward to use Romeo as a decoy. There will also be opportunities for back cuts for teams over playing him. Arch and Co. will figure it out.

Yep Rob saved Archie a bit of embarrassment. I don’t like Green being the decision maker in those situations either.

Also...

1 of the things Romeo really needs to work on is making hard cuts to get open. Not just at the end but all the time. Phinisee looks his way many times and turns it back the other way because Romeo isn’t separating.

Yeah, it’s an easy “cylinder” call but those refs weren’t making that call in that situation after ignoring a ton of stuff all game.

Archie's got to be a d***head then in pre-game to light a fire in them before the opening tip cuz the 1st 10 minutes in every game since Marquette have been lackadaisical.

Yeah it’s weird. I haven’t been to every game but you see them getting punched in the mouth every game before they wake up. The guy you see on the sidelines doesn’t seem like the type to hold back before the game. He isn’t a dick towards anyone (he gets on Green more than anyone), but he has their attention.

Shout out to JM for making his free throws today. Dude had to have been hearing all about it heading into this one.

I’ll 2nd that. Sooo Important. I tell you though, even with our struggles from the line, I knew he would nail those. I knew it. He wasn’t going to let that be the reason. No way. Congrats all around. Great team win.

Purdue person head was probably the wrong term but it seems he needs to get on these guys before a bad start happens.

Before I head, this game was all Archie and Juwan. When we got down 11 he called the timeout and lit into them. Prior he had worked the refs the first half of the timeouts for the most part. Some not. He spent that whole timeout challenging players. He had control of his team from that time forward. Defensively we went up a notch after. Juwan was just a beast. Could get to anywhere on the court and demanded the ball. Rob is a leader man. His skills will get better the next few years but he isn’t afraid to say something to anyone.

Now THIS is a post that aged well.

He certainly finished with a flourish lol. I still felt that for the totality of the game that Green was better. Devonte hit a pretty big one himself a few minutes earlier. I was glad to see that Archie went with them both at the end. If those two can coexist on the court it brings a little something special.
