Fairly certain I read that if we win this game we set the goal differential record for women. Pretty impressive since we rested 7 starters in a game.

Like IU, the A and B team for the US would start on most other World Teams.

Also in terms of competition US is still better, but Sweden is much more competitive obviously then last two games.

Sort of like the difference between when IU played Evansville and blew them out and teams didn't belong on same. Last two games were that. This game is like IU playing Air Force in NCAA Tournament. Still much better then them, but the win was a back and forth 2-0 as opposed to 5-0 and one sided vs. Evansville.

If US wins, Spain next game will be same as this game competition wise before last three games will be like playing Notre Dame and Maryland who are complete equals.

If you think about it actually, IU's place and dominance in college soccer is very similar to USWNT's dominance in world and how they stack up against various teams (a few equals, a few can compete and most not on same level).

Also like IU Sweden hoped to park the bus. Early goal prevented that.

If there is any question why the US held onto Hope Solo so long despite all her legal trouble this World Cup explains it. If you are as good as Solo and the goalies behind you are this mediocre, you stretch out a troubled star as long as possible rightly or wrongly.

US has the team to win it all again. Just hope Naeher doesn't blow it for them.
