Hoosiers Sweep First Meet of the Season

 
  OXFORD, Ohio. – The Indiana University cross country teams swept the Miami Opener Friday afternoon. The women's team won with a total of 23 points with Miami University taking second and Indiana State third. The men's team also earned a total of 23 points bringing home the team win. Indiana State finished second on the men's side with Miami University taking third.
 
Junior Lexa Barrott led the women's team to victory as she collected her first collegiate cross country win finishing the 6k course in 21:42.60. Teammate Haley Harris finished close behind Barrott with the time of 21:44.40, taking second place. Senior Kelsey Harris took fifth with the time of 21:56.20 and junior Hannah Stoffel rounded out the Hoosier top-10 finishers with the time of 22:22.80, earning a tenth place finish.
 
Freshman Josey Korte (22:45.60), freshman Claire Hamilton (23:40.40), sophomore Joely Pinkston (24:24.10) and junior Grace Walther (24:41.90) closed out the field for the Hoosiers.
 
On the men's side freshman Reese Jordan crossed the 8k finish line first for Indiana taking eighth place with the time of 25:43.20. Sophomore Hunter Moore ran his first race wearing the IU candy stripes finishing right behind Jordan with the time of 25:43.30, earning ninth place.
 
Junior Bryce Millar (25:44.80), graduate student Kenneth Hagen (25:50.90), Kyle Burks (26:04.40), Aaron Bennett (26:32.10) and Marcus Ellington(27:43.30) rounded out the field for the Hoosiers.
 
Indiana University cross country will be back in action Friday, September 14 to compete in the Meet of Champions at Van Cortland Park in Bronx, N.Y
