How is their program? My son is now a junior, and is a high D1 level golfer(some programs are starting to contact him). And I was wondering about IU, did they ever update their golf course?

To be honest, I am not really sure how we stack up against other B1G programs.  There was someone posting here that was pretty familiar with the program, but can't remember for the life of me who it was.  Awesome about your son!

Indiana Posts Best Tournament Team Score Since 2016 To Finish Runner-Up at Fuzzy Zoeller Invitational

Indiana team standing: 2nd/13 teams; 846 (282-284-280; -18)
Top Indiana individual: Ethan Shepherd – 210 (70-73-67; final round 67 is best round of career)

Teams returned to the course Sunday morning to finish round two and then went on to play round three. When the dust settled, the Indiana men's golf team had posted a second-place finish, the best team finish since April 2017.

Indiana closed the tournament at 18-under par, which is the best team score in relation to par since March 2016.

TAP-INS
• The final round team score of 280 is the best since March 24, 2018, when the Hoosiers carded at 278 at the Bighorn Invitational.

• Sophomore Ethan Shepherd had just one birdie and two bogeys in his second round before breaking out with an eagle, five birdies and two bogeys in the final round to finish at 6-under par (210; 70-73-67) and a tie for fifth place overall.

• It easily marks the best tournament finish for Shepherd, whose previous best was a tie for 13th at the Mission Inn Spring Spectacular last season.

• Redshirt senior Jack Sparrow finished tied for seventh, one shot behind Shepherd, at 211 (71-69-71; -5). It is his first career top 10. He also tied for third with 13 birdies over the three rounds.

• Freshman Mitch Davis, competing as an individual and making collegiate debut, also tied for seventh with a score of 211 (70-71-70; -5) thanks to 12 birdies over the three rounds.

• Junior Evan Gaesser also logged the best finish of his career, tying for 10th place with a score of 212 (68-72-72; -4). He was second out of all 75 competitors with 15 birdies in the three rounds. The opening round 68 is also the best single round score of his career.

• Senior Jake Brown battled back from an opening round score of 73 to finish at 3-under for the tournament (73-70-70=213). Brown had just four bogeys over the final 36 holes.

• Junior Brock Ochsenreiter struggled through the first two rounds but was able to find some consistency in the final round, posting an Even par 72. He finished the tournament tied for 34th at 6-over par (75-75-72=222).

• Sophomore Evan Yakubov showed consistency competing as an individual over the weekend and earned a tie for 18th with a score of Even par 216 (72-71-73).

• Freshman Harry Reynolds, making his collegiate debut and competing as an individual, closed with a 75 to finish at 2-over par (70-73-75=218) and a tie for 25th.

• Senior Trevor Ranton was not able to get on track over the weekend and finished tied for 42nd at 9-over par 225 (75-75-75).

UP NEXT
• It will be a short week for Indiana, as they take to the road to compete in the prestigious Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational at Olympia Fields Country Club near Chicago. The three-day event gets started on Friday and annually features many of the top teams from across the country.

The course is supposed to get updated to like 7,700 yards, so it'll easily be a championship course.

Brown To Compete in Genesis Open Collegiate Showcase
Senior Jake Brown will be one of 12 collegiate golfers to compete in the Collegiate Showcase in conjunction with the PGA TOUR's Genesis Open on Feb. 11. Brown will play alongside PGA TOUR professional and IU alum Chase Wright and two amateurs. However, Brown will play only his ball and play against the other 11 collegiate golfers in a stroke play competition with the winner earning an exemption into the Genesis Open that runs Feb. 14-17 at Riviera Country Club in California.

'Shepherd'-ing The Hoosiers
Sophomore Ethan Shepherd is second on the Hoosiers with a 72.72 scoring average through the first six tournaments. It is more than three strokes better than his freshman season scoring average. He also has a trio of Top 25 finishes this season while he had two such finishes in eight tournaments as a freshman. The Greenwood, Ind., native also has the two lowest rounds to par this year for IU, carding a 67 (-5) at the Fuzzy Zoeller Invitational to start the year and a 66 at Chatham Hills.

Top 25 Machine
Junior Brock Ochsenreiter closed the fall with a second place finish at the Steelwood Intercollegiate, which means he has finished inside the Top 25 in 10 of his last 11 tournaments dating back to the 2017-18 season. He has also recorded rounds of 75 or better in 16 of 18 rounds this year.

What Can Brown Do?
After opening the year with a T12 finish at the Fuzzy Zoeller Invitational, senior Jake Brown posted finishes of T49 and T62. But he showed once again that he thrives on difficult courses at the Maridoe Intercollegiate, where he carded scores of 77 and 74 in the first two rounds but then rallied to post 69 in the final round and tie for 14th. He followed that up with a T6 finish at Chatham Hills. It was the 13th career Top 15 finish for Brown in 38 events.

Newcomers
The Hoosiers welcome a pair of freshmen to the fold this season, and both will be making their collegiate debuts as individuals at the Fuzzy Zoeller Invitational. Mitch Davis (Valparaiso, Ind.) is a heralded recruit from the state of Indiana that has had a decorated junior career in the state and on the national stage. Harry Reynolds (Greenville, S.C.) won multiple times in South Carolina on the junior circuit and helped his high school team to their fifth straight team championship.

Davis opened his IU career with a stellar T7 finish at the Fuzzy Zoeller Invitational to start the year. He also has a T27 finish at Olympia Fields and a T33 finish at Chatham Hills on his ledger.

Reynolds has a pair of Top 25 finishes in three starts, highlighted by a T18 finish at Chatham Hills.
