Elinor Ostrom taught at IU from the mid-1960s until her death in 2012. Dr. Ostrom is the only woman to ever receive the Nobel Prize in economics, which she shared with Oliver Williamson in 2009 for her work on economic analysis of the commons. While at IU, Dr. Ostrom and her husband founded the Workshop in Political Theory and Policy Analysis.

I can't speak for the high school level, but it looks like the college team fell off after WWII. There were no NCAA championships from 1943-1945. In addition to the 1932 title, we were national runner-ups in 1934 and 1940. 

Having attended Bloomington South and coming from a family of wrestlers its instilled in you the tradition Bloomington has in this sport. South still gives out awards with the names of these legendary coaches/wrestlers.

Inducted: July 29,1977 in Bloomington, IN (Posthumously)

Date of Birth: January 8, 1895 in Mendon, MI

High School Attended: Mendon

High School Honors: Enlisted in Army while in high school; finished high school while enrolled at Indiana University; while at Mendon, played football and basketball.

College Attended: Indiana University                              Graduated: 1926

College Honors: Played guard on football team; was champion heavyweight wrestler.

Coaching Experience: Coached football 20 years at Bloomington HS, with a 1928-1945 record of 98-58-10; also served as wrestling coach; retired from coaching in 1946.

Coaching Honors: 1929 and 1930 teams were considered mythical State Champions; won Southern Indiana Athletic Conference 1944, holding all conference foes scoreless 181-0.

Special Recognition: Bloomington HS football field renamed "Mumby Field" in his honor; a memorial plaque is awarded annually to the outstanding senior athlete at BHS and a scholarship is presented to an outstanding athlete in his name; received the “Legion of Merit,” highest award given by Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity; Past-President of Bloomington Exchange Club; served on Bloomington Police Board; Chairman of Monroe County Community Hospital Association formed in 1957; was active in numerous civic/community organizations; member of American Legion, IU Alumni Association, IU Varsity Club, I-Men’s Club; named a Sagamore of the Wabash; member of Knights of Pythias, Indiana Retired Teachers Association and National Retired Teachers Association, Chamber of Commerce, First United Methodist Church, and National Youth Committee; official timer at all IU home football games for 35 years; considered by many as the "Father of High School Wrestling" in Indiana; inducted into the Indiana Wrestling Hall of Fame; 1962 recipient of Monroe County Community Council Award for Meritorious Service; Bloomington Tribune named him first “Father of the Year" in 1967.

Family: Wife, Beulah; daughter, Lillian; grandsons, Danny, Jeffery, and Pete.

Coach Mumby passed away September 14, 1967.

Clifford "Two Bit" Myers

Born in Chrisman, Illinois, Clifford Myers grew up in Bloomington where he participated in athletics at Bloomington High School. He was a wrestler for IU from 1936-38, establishing an outstanding record; winning the Big 10 championship in 1936-37. He was captain of the 1937 wrestling team, and that same year was awarded the Balfour Award in wrestling. 

Following graduation, Myers returned to Bloomington High School and served first as assistant wrestling coach, then head coach from 1943-63. His teams compiled an outstanding record, winning nine IHSAA state championships. He retired from the Monroe County Community School Corporation in 1973 after serving as assistant to the superintendent. Myers was inducted into the Indiana Hall of Fame, qualifying as a wrestler, coach and contributor.

Did you know that Lilly Library at IU is one of only 9 libraries in America to have a copy of the Gutenberg Bible

Yep! The copy IU has is incomplete, like most of the 49 known Gutenberg Bibles still in existence. IU's copy has the majority of the leaves though, with the missing 12 on display in a library in Belgium.
