Yorktown's Emily Weiss has some fond memories at the IUPUI Natatorium, and she has a good chance to make another this weekend.

A junior, Weiss is already a two-time state champion in the 100 breaststroke and won a world junior title in August. She will go for her third straight title on Saturday at the state swimming finals, and look to break a national high school record in the process.

The national high school record is 58.56 seconds. Weiss won the Hamilton Southeastern sectional with a time of 59.68 last weekend. Last year at state, her time was 59.37, which broke a state record held by Olympic gold medalist Lilly King. King holds the overall American record with a time of 56.30.

"I think that national record would set new standards, honestly," Weiss said. "Even if I go 57 I'd be the first high schooler to go 57, and anyone in my age to go anywhere near that. It's a pretty exciting thing even at a state meet, not only for myself but for the whole nation."
