@patmhickey: Curt Hopf is impressive. Didn't take a single shot in the 1st Q, but he starts with 4 seniors who can shoot. Even at 6-7, he's leading fastbreaks, has some handles and is a good passer. Alters shots, communicates, let's the game come to him.

Final: Forest Park 59, Jasper 45. Freshman Curt Hopf had eight points (on 4 of 8 shooting), seven rebounds and three assists for the Rangers (11-1). Didn't play much in 2nd Q due to foul trouble.

@patmhickey: Off the court, he helps feed the cows and clean the troughs. On the court, Forest Park's 6-foot-7 freshman has caught the attention of Indiana and Purdue.

Hopf has started since the season opener and has averaged 13.2 points and a team-high 6.5 rebounds per game for one of the best squads in Class 2A. He's received interest from Big Ten Conference programs Indiana, Purdue and Nebraska as well as Evansville, where his brother, Clint, played from 2007-11.

The Hoosiers have inquired the most of the four, said Litherland, who has sixth-ranked Forest Park sitting at 12-1 overall (2-0 Pocket). To play at IU’s Assembly Hall is a fantasy of many kids growing up in Indiana, but it’s premature at this point and Litherland isn’t worried about Hopf letting it go to his head.

The kid can play that is for sure. I didn’t realize their only loss came to my Alma mater Barr-Reeve. Lots of great games between Barr-Reeve and Forrest Park over the years.

Barr Reeve program is fantastic. Incredible amount of respect for them when we play them. Blackhawk Christian is on another level this year though.
