So were rob and romeo. Both started. The fact is if you cannot even get a couple of minutes a game you have a long ways to go.

He did get a couple minutes per game. And no one is saying he doesn’t have a long ways to go, but he was a low-ranked Freshman. You expecting any more than what he gave us is absurd or completely ignorant.

IMO our roster is going to look so much different next year. I’d bet on adding at least 2 more guys, possibly 3. Whether that’s through grad transfers, normal transfers, or freshmen. Have a feeling we’re going to get an impact grad transfer though

I wasnt the one expecting more and pumping him up. That was other people. He played about as much as I thought he would. I never expected him to contibute much at all and the same for Jake

Daniel Utomi is a name to keep an eye on. 6'6 averaged 14 this year & 16 previous year. He is a career 39% 3 baller & took plenty attempts so numbers aren't flawed.

Nike Sabande is from Indy & plays for Miami (OH). Has a lot of talent, but he will sit out & play 2. I've heard his name.

Derrik Smits is obviously gonna be linked to IU, but I think he will be a backup plan at best.

I've been asked about Pipkins from Umass, but unless DG transfers I just don't see it. IU has Rob entrenched at PG for 3 more years maybe less, but still regardless he is the guy. DG could start, but if not he will be the 6th man 100% if he is back.

There is going to be hundreds of more names added so don't get caught up on one guy early.

Only transfers I could see at this point from IU would be Clifton & Justin Smith. I expect one or two. We're looking at adding 1 at worst & 3 at best. DG or Damezi wouldn't shock me or maybe even Jake, but he works so hard I think Archie would love to keep him around & will tell him as much, but does he see a path to PT?

I just wondered why when he did play he did not focus on excelling at the thing he was good at, shooting the 3. It seemed to me he looked to drive as often as he looked to shoot the outside shot.

Learn to excel in one area and add other skills after that. We desperately needed that outside threat and I think Al and Damezi would have been well suited to be that guy always looking for that pass so they can catch and shoot.

I hope green stays as i really think his shooting can be key from three. Do not really care if and of the others you mentioned leave. They are all easily replaceable imo

I think we see Damezi’s PT differently.

He was gunning every time he saw the court. Early on he was hitting some but then it seems like he missed his next 15. Might have been instructed to help other ways when his shot wouldn’t drop.

Each time he came into a game, I’d say, here comes a quick 3 and sure enough. If he was hitting, that would have been just what we needed but he went broke like the rest of the team.

I seen it same way. Dude jacked threes without hesitation when he got in

You could be right. I found this site and he did shoot more 3s than 2 pt shots.

But comparing to Matt Roth who was a 3pt specialist, Roth shot 3.2 3’s per game and 0.2 2 pt shots per game.

https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/matt-roth-1.html

Damezi on the other hand shot 1.4 3’s per game to 0.6 2 pt shots.

Roth shot 16x as many 3s as 2s whereas Damezi shot only 2x as many.

It could be after seeing his % the coaches said hey stop shooting that but it seemed to be pretty similar splits all year. It could also be that had he focused on one thing exclusively (or 16 times more often) he might have been able to master it better.

There were only a handful of games that he played meaningful minutes. He typically cane into the game and got a quick 3 up. I don’t know if that was from the coaching or Damezi just getting shots up. I’m all for having a roster with A Roth or Z3 but not full of them. I don’t think Damezi is will be that player that only does one thing.

What does this conversation about Damezi Anderson have to do with 2019 recruiting? Just curious.

I’m guessing whether he will be here next year, whether he will help next year and overall whether he fills any long term voids.

I’m just reading it though but that is my take

I don't completely disagree with your point, but I think the bigger issue is that IU seems to perpetually be in a place that NEEDS multiple Freshmen to contribute significantly every year. That is not a recipe for success- even in the one & done era. Got to get out of the cycle of requiring a huge infusion of talent every season. Get good players and develop them. It's so simple even the dorks at Wisconsin & PeeEww have figured it out.

I think that is where the staff is trying to take us. Hunter, Phinisee, Anderson, and Forrester are all multiyear, most 4, players. We need to get older and experienced in Archie’s system but it takes time. I really believe in Durham’s senior season we’ll be playing mostly upperclassmen with the possibility of a stud freshman or two being in the rotation. It’ll take players buying in and waiting their time though.

This is what we need to do. Idc, everyone else is doing it

I’d love to see an even playing field but that’s not going to happen. I’d prefer we didn’t cheat because we’d get caught. We don’t have the experience that UCLA, puke, Kansas, U of No Classes and Dook have.

If we got caught, it would only mean a couple to 3 seasons of what we’ve just endured so what’s the difference? Do what ever it takes!
