No Joe Smith On Broadcasts This Year

Apparently Don Fischer announced on JMV Friday that Smith (who has done the pre game and halftime show for years) had a major accident this summer and fell down the stairs in his apartment and was nearly paralyzed but is on his way to recovery. However, he won't be ready for the football season and will be off the air for several more months while he recovers. 

That will be quite different. I have heard his voice on the broadcasts since I was a little kid. Hope his recovery continues to go well.
