Tre Coleman, the 2020 small forward from Jeffersonville (IN) High School, spoke with D1VisionMonday about his recruitment.

Coleman, who has an offer from New Orleans, has also received interest from schools such as Xavier, Indiana, Purdue, and Dayton, with Nebraska coming in to see him practice last Friday (Dec. 1).

“The Dayton coach [Anthony Grant] is setting up a visit for me to go there, but I don’t know when,” said Coleman. “Indiana wanted me to come to a basketball game. I’m not sure yet, but I’ll probably go to the Ohio State vs. Indiana game.”

Indiana will play Ohio State at home on February 23.

Although Coleman may only be a sophomore, and coaches aren’t able to directly reach out to him yet, he has a clear idea of what he’s looking for in a school, as he said, “I’m usually just looking for what fits me best, where I can go and play right away.”

Playing at Jeffersonville, Coleman has led the Red Devils to a 2-0 record as they prepare to play a game at Seymour (IN) High School on Saturday. “As a team, we want to win a state championship, of course,” said Coleman. “But right now, I just want to get past that sectional and win regionals.”

Jeffersonville’s early success is in large part due to Coleman’s improvement over the fall and summer. “Over the fall, I improved my jump shot a lot and that showed last game,” he said. “Right now I’m just working on my ball handling. Ball handling and shooting.”

Coleman’s early success this season should lead to some more offers moving forward but there are two schools in particular that he is hoping to receive an offer from.

“I would hope to receive an offer from Duke and UCLA. It would be a lifelong accomplishment for me,” said Coleman before breaking down what he likes about each school.

UCLA: “The location and the way they play. I watch them all the time.”

Duke: “Of course Marvin Bagley III goes there and he’s obviously going to the league, so that’s a bonus. I also like how Coach [Mike Krzyzewski] sends people to the league easily.”

In his high school season opener, Coleman scored 14 in a 72-56 win over Southport.  In its second game, Jeffersonville defeated FW Wayne 75-58.  Kid from FWW hit 6-3's in the first quarter; J'ville coach put Coleman on him and Coleman shut him down the rest of the game.  Coleman scored 18 on 6-15 from the field and 3-4 FT's.

@ebosshoops: Get to know 2020 wing Corey Walker Jr. who is already a priority recruit for Southeastern high majors. @DMcDonaldRivals with the intro https://basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/sophomore-corey-walker-jr-emerging-as-a-priority-wing-recruit

Corey Walker Jr. is going to be a name fans of top basketball programs all over the country need to remember in the class of 2020. The 6-foot-6 small forward already comes in at No. 35 overall in his class on Rivals.com, and has schools all over the country recruiting him hard already.

Florida, Florida State, Georgia Tech and VCU are the schools Walker says are coming at him the hardest right now. He’s been on campus at Florida, Florida State and Georgia Tech already. Auburn, Georgia, Indiana, Kansas State, South Carolina, South Florida, Tennessee, UCLA, West Virginia and Wichita State are also showing heavy interest in the four-star prospect.

I can't tell if he's in a closet or a half bathroom. Would be very inconsiderate to spend 48 minutes in the bathroom so I'm hoping it's the closet.

I had to figure that out too when I watched.  I'm thinking closet / office (very tight office).  But, good substance so I am okay overlooking the setting.  :)

Even if it's the bathroom, well, Facebook hasn't developed over-the-internet smell technology yet.

Sounds like Leal had a great weekend

I wonder what positions the staff is planning on targeting in 2020. Both Galloway and Leal are playing well in front of the scouting services, but appear to be similar players. Any experts think the coaching staff would be willing to take both?

Corey Evans - Rivals on Anthony Leal's performance last weekend.

Leal earned the accolade "Biggest Head Scratcher" from Evans, asserting that the 2020 prospect deserves more recruiting attention than he's received to-date.

"Leal filled a void in the backcourt left by Trey Galloway, his teammate on the Indiana Elite 16-under team who was sitting out the weekend with a minor injury," Evans wrote. "Leal took that opportunity and ran with it, thanks to his fundamentally sound skillset and toughness in the backcourt.

"It is rather head-scratching that he has no scholarship offers. He looks the part of a prototypical Big Ten guard who can shoot, dribble, pass and rebound. Not an explosive athlete, Leal makes up for things with his intellect and unrelenting mindset on the attack. He's a native of Bloomington, Ind., and if the Hoosiers offer this recruitment could be over before one can say ‘IU.’"

The Bloomington South guard earned honorable mention all-state honors this season after averaging 14.4 points per game, helping his squad to a 26-3 overall record.
