Comments from Evan Flood of NY2LA on what he's seen from certain players we have interest in at the Adidas Summer Championships.

David Duke – 2018 – G – Mass Rivals
Duke did a little bit of everything in a loss to Team Loaded on Wednesday. The senior guard had nine points, six rebounds, and three assists against a very good opponent. Duke didn’t shoot the ball particularly well, but was able to create good looks with his team struggling. Duke has good size at 6-foot-4 and can play on or off the ball. He was effective creating things off the bounce and elevates really well on his jumper, rising and firing over the hands of the defense. Even though it wasn’t his night or his team’s night scoring the basketball, it was nice to see that Duke didn’t let his shooting woes (3-12) affect the rest of his game.

Matt Hurt – 2019 – SF – D1 Minnesota
Opposing defenses have a tall task in trying to figure out how to match up with Hurt. The 6-foot-9 small forward can play inside and out and will simply attack whatever the defense can’t cover. Hurt is quite effective down on the block or in the high post. He can play with his back to the basket or turn and face, which makes a lot of opposing bigs uncomfortable. A sweet-shooting big, Hurt has great touch from all over the floor. When D1 Minnesota puts him in the pick n’ roll, opponents almost have to pick their poison, often allowing Hurt catch and shoot opportunities from beyond the arc. Hurt had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds in a loss to Compton Magic. He then scored 22 points in a win over Team Loaded VA later that day.

Nate Laszweski – 2018 – F – New England Playaz
Putting the New England Playaz on his back, Laszweski was big time in the Creator’s Cup Final. Laszweski had a huge second half to bring his team back from a double-digit deficit. The 6-foot-10 stretch forward was terrific in the pick n’ pop game and spotting up in transition. Laszweski trails plays really well and hand a number of impressive put backs. He also works without the ball and got some easy buckets with back door cuts. Laszweski went for 27 points in a loss to Compton Magic on 10-of-14 shooting. He also grabbed five rebounds in Thursday’s loss.

Nate Laszewski – 2018 – F – New England Playaz
One of the biggest risers this week, Laszewski was on fire once again on Friday. The 6-foot-10 stretch forward made his first three attempts, all from 3-point range. He finished with 17 first half points on five triples. By then the game was all but over. Laszewski has been dynamic in the pick n’ roll, floating out to the perimeter and letting if fly. A floor spacer, Laszewski can sit in the corner and that will allow his guards plenty of driving lanes. If defenders pinch, you can put three points on the board with Laszewski. A hard-nosed player, Laszewski is willing to take charges, battle for rebounds, and set hard screens – all the little things that help the engine keep chugging.

Mark Majak – 2020 – C – Indiana Elite
You can’t teach height and Majak has plenty of it. Already seven-feet tall, Majak is a must-see prospect in the 2020 class. As expected, he’s an excellent rebounder and rim protector. Being a raw seven-footer, Majak moves quite well for his size and age. There are some awkward movements, particularly when he’s playing around a lot of bodies, but Majak gets up and down the floor very well. He made his living on Thursday cleaning the glass and gathering offensive put backs, but Majak can do some things on the block 1-on-1.

Who was the dude that committed and then got pushed out? He was a part of the McCleod days. That kid had no business getting a scholarship offer either. Can throw him into that Prillers, Gelon, April etc bucket

Through Saturday at the Adidas Summer Championships.  The only IU target who plays today is our latest offeree Nate Laszewski.  All of our other targets have been eliminated from the tournament.

I have no answer for why 3 of Langford's games did not have box scores posted unless it's up to each team to post to the website and they have a slacker for a scorekeeper.  Interesting that the "H" surnames all had pretty good tournaments.

Race had an inconsistent weekend. Henry, Hurt, and Watford with the best weekends. Hunter not far behind. David Duke hasn't been impressive in AAU IMO.

Side note-I hate having to log in every time to see webview.

I LOVE OF for keeping up with these stats!!!!!

Yeah, he burst onto the scene this Summer. Expecting him to rise significantly.

Only thing I see that could prevent a big jump would be if some scouts hold it against him playing on the silver circuit instead of Adidas' highest circuit

Nate Laszewski's team came from down at the half and won their semifinal game and will play for the Adidas Summer Championship title this evening.  He had 13 pts. on 5-11 shooting and 8 reb.

Do you have a time on the championship game?
