Boxscore

xavier athletic's baseball page has a box score in their recap article.  I'd copy & paste it if I could.  just google xavier baseball.  our sid was slacking last night.

sounds like effross will be stretched out.  if he has a good year as a starter, he gone.  all-american-caliber seasons as a closer and starter = high pick in the 2015 draft.  I figured they'd move one of hartong, donley or dedelow to first.  donley and dedelow saw time there last night.  it'd be great if pasteur keeps impressing and wins the shortstop job.  hopefully gibbs is primed to break out.

my early opening day or shortly thereafter lineup prediction:  rodrigue 4 - nolden 8 - hartong 7 - donley 3/0 - gibbs 2 - dedelow 0/3 - sowers 9 - pasteur 6 - cangelosi 5.  experienced all-b1g top half, young talented bottom half.  has the potential to be great.

Kendall Rogers @KendallRogersD1

BTW, I think #IU is going to be pretty salty this year. Plenty of solid arms returning, Nolden/Donley/Rodrigue/Hartong gives exp in lineup.

Kendall Rogers @KendallRogersD1

Very solid chance to be. Yep. RT @HoosierGuy311: @KendallRogersD1 how big of drop off for IU. Still a tourney team??

Kendall Rogers @KendallRogersD1

Touched base with the @HoosierBaseball staff earlier today. Sounds like several young hitters really made strong impressions in fall. #IU

Kendall Rogers @KendallRogersD1

Keep an eye on OF Logan Sowers, 3B Isaiah Pasteur. Both guys made strong impressions during fall workouts. Both will start @HoosierBaseball

expected pasteur to be at short, but rogers heard otherwise from the coaches.  hope holdsworth was included among the "several young hitters" and is winning the shortstop job.  didnt play in the xavier exhibition though.  ramos just didnt cut it last year.

most people are down on us.  I agree with rogers, I think this team will exceed expectations.  hurry up baseball season!

The Indiana baseball program completed its first-ever Omaha Challenge during the first week of December, splitting into two teams and competing in events each morning and afternoon.

"We're just trying to compete," first-year head coach Chris Lemonis said. "We're finishing the fall with a competitive segment and trying to do some different activities to work on team leadership, team building and some competitiveness."

The Red Team, also known as Team Toughy, led by its captains Scott Effross and Will Nolden won Indiana's inaugural Omaha Challenge, 3,650-3,605, over the Black Team (Team BrOmaha), captained by Brad Hartong and Luke Harrison.

Sophomore Craig Dedelow was the overall individual champion, while freshman Isaiah Pasteur won or was tied for the top performance in a team-high three events, including the broad jump in which he recorded a mark of 11'5".

The events were designed and determined by strength and conditioning coach Will Alli.

Event Team Winner Top Two Performers Coverage
2,100-yard Shuttle - Red 1 - Craig Dedelow, 2 - Kent Williams
Baseball Hang - Black 1 - Larry Crisler, 1 - Macy Holdsworth, 1 - Isaiah Pasteur
Tire Flip - Red 1 - Chris Sujka, 2 - Ryan Halstead
Paintball - Red
100-meter Swim - Black 1 - Jake Kelzer, 2 - Ricky Alfonso
Jump - Red 1 - Isaiah Pasteur, 2 - Casey Rodrigue
Agility - Tied 1 - Isaiah Pasteur, 2 - Logan Sowers
Truck Push - Red
Bike Race - Red
Tug of War - Black
Obstacle Course - Red 1 - Brad Wilhite, 2 - Jake Kelzer

57 days until opening day.  crimson over cardinal.  roster still isnt updated on iuhoosiers.com.  new baseball sid has been unimpressive if you ask me.

makes all the sense in the world to play the notre dame-indiana baseball game/series at victory field.  the three parties need to make it an annual event, and air it on wndy/wish.

something else to look forward to, regarding our current highest rated 2015 recuit by perfect game:

The Hotlist: Top 2015 Power Hitters http://www.prepbaseballreport.com/news/PBR/The-Hotlist-Top-2015-Power-Hitters-2405781693  includes @HoosierBaseball commit Luke Miller

if i'm deciphering the below tweet correctly, sounds like we've hired a new volunteer assistant coach in shawn roof, an illinois alum who had a significant minor league career from 07-12.

Eric Roof @TurnUpTheHeat15

Twitter, @BigTenBaseball, & @IndianaUniv nation welcome @shawnroof4 to the @HoosierBaseball family. Congrats! #bigtenbloodlines

collegiate baseball has released its big ten predictions.  picks donley as poy and IU finishing 4th behind maryland, nebraska and illinois.

that nolden hard work video made by casey james-smith really blew up.  mlb fan cave tweeted it twice.  can only bolster recruiting.

‏Time to get this thread started again. Here's a few recent nuggets.

@WarehamGatemen: Logan Sowers is the 2015 CCBL Home Run Derby champion! #GoGatemen @Official_CCBL

‏@ChrisMWebb: As he returns to #iubase, @lemo22 knows Kelzer's return is key to Hoosiers' hopes http://b1gbaseball.com/2015/07/29/jake-kelzer-returning-indiana-baseball-chicago-cubs-cws …

the weekend rotation of hart, bell, barager could be great.  i'd like to know what pieces lemo and webb think will form that 'great bullpen'.  you need more than a closer and set-up (kelzer, belcher).  the pen looks to be our weakness next year.  none of foote, coursen-carr, hobbie, williams impressed much last season though have potential; stadler and stephenson are coming back from tj; and the incoming freshman sedat, herrin, beard, stiever are unknowns.  hard to be optimistic about that.  of course, lemo isnt going to express concern right now.

Our starting rotation will be a work in progress next year. Hopefully a few can step up. Milto is probably in the mix.

W(2-1, 3.11)

IP - 5.2, 3 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 6 K.

Next year will definitely be an interesting one, a lot of good young talent in the mix.
