Cannot believe we only lost 8 spots in the RPI as I thought it would be 20 or more. Imperative we win last 2 this weekend or were out of the tourney (unless we beat Louisville). A couple wins this weekend and were back in the high 20's. While this is damaging I'm stunned we were not penalized worse.

PSU used their only good pitcher tonight so hopefully our offense will wake up as the rest of their starters are between a 5 and 7 ERA (and they have switched it up a ton since no one else has been reliable).

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Behind a strong outing from sophomore Pauly Milto, Indiana (28-19-2, 11-8-1 Big Ten) bounced back on Saturday with a 5-2 victory over Penn State to even the series at one game apiece.

Milto put together another quality outing, as he went six innings, allowing six hits on three walks and no strikeouts. The sophomore didn't allow a run on 81 pitches, as he lowered he season ERA to 3.54. Sophomore Matt Lloyd picked up his seventh save of the season as he faced the minimum in the ninth.

Offensively, Indiana pounded out 11 hits on the day, including two-hit performances from senior Alex Krupa, senior Tony Butler and junior Logan Sowers. Krupa homered and Sowers added an RBI, while Lloyd drove in two on the day. Freshman Jake Matheny got the start at catcher and drove in a run.

Indiana struck first in the fourth inning as sophomore Luke Miller doubled to center field and then advanced to third on a groundout. Sowers provided the first RBI of the game as he hit a sacrifice fly to right, scoring Miller. Then with two outs, freshman Matt Gorski bunted for a hit, stole second, and then scored on Matheny's base-hit to left field to make it a 2-0 game.

Indiana added insurance in the fifth when Krupa hit a solo shot to right field. It was Krupa's fifth career home run and his fourth when leading off an inning.

After Milto exited the game, Penn State inched closer on an RBI single to left field, making it a 3-1 game.

The Hoosiers rebounded from the one-run seventh by the Nittany Lions. Freshman Jeremy Houston and Krupa each reached base on hits, and then each advanced a base on Butler's sacrifice bunt. Lloyd then connected on a two-run single to extend Indiana's lead to 5-1 after the seven frames.

After Penn State plated one in the eighth, Lloyd closed the door facing the minimum three batters in the ninth.

Penn State and Indiana face off in the rubber game of the three game set on Sunday at noon. The game will be televised on the Big Ten Network.

Glad we won the last two. Was out of town last 2 days and didn't catch even a second of any game this weekend. Good news is we locked up a spot in Big Ten Tourney since we are now 3.5 games ahead of MSU for 9th with only 3 to play. Fortunately we avoided the embarrassment of not playing in tourney on our own field. Now lets lock up a spot in NCAA tourney by beating Louisville Tuesday.
