Oh no, not really - his mom and stepdad are his by far most involved parents and who he lives with. His stepdad was who took him on his IU visit.

His mom and dad are Karla and Ray Jackson, and apparently Mr. Jackson has been an engaged parent to the level where Trayce hyphenated his last name to reflect that. 

In fact, I'm gonna assume that Mr. Jackson is Chief Jackson of the Center Grove Police Department - impressive gentleman if it is so:

    Chief Jackson graduated at the top of his class from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Academy (class 329) in 2002. He also received the Physical Fitness Honorary Recruit award. Jackson spent several years with the LA County Sheriff's Department, where he worked custody and patrol and was a member of the Emergency Response Team. Jackson moved to Indiana to work for the Fishers Police Department where he spent 5 years as patrol officer. During that time, he spent 2 1/2 years as a School Resource Officer (SRO) at Hamilton Southeastern HS, was a member of the S.W.A.T. sniper team, and taught D.A.R.E to elementary students. Jackson is also a special investigator and has worked corporate fraud cases over the years.

    Chief Jackson graduated from Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California. He attended Washington State University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice with a minor in Sociology.
     
    Chief Jackson is certified in the following:
    • Department of Education DARE Certified Instructor 
    • Department of Education Certified School Safety Specialist
    • National Criminal Justice graduate (certified) in School Violence
    • CPR- Keepin it Real Certified Instructor
     
    Athletics
     
    Chief Jackson played basketball, football, track and volleyball at Mater Dei High School. His school won state championships in basketball, football and track. Jackson attended Washington State University on a football scholarship, played in two bowl games including the 98 Rose Bowl. He also played for three NFL teams in four years, two seasons in the NFL Europe, and one season in Arena Football League.

    Chief Jackson's favorite book is the Bible.

    Chief Jackson is married and has three children. His daughter graduated from CGHS and is currently in medical school. He also two sons who attend Center Grove High School and Center Grove Middle School Central. In his free time, Chief Jackson loves to coach and BBQ.

Oh that changes things

My comment here was a bit snarky. AK made this comment "Sounds like Sunday's visit was huge for TJD.  He basically went down to Btown as a personal visit to hang with friends, but ended up calling the staff". My response was that since his Dad was with him on the visit then it was probably a little more planned ahead of time. Then you responded that it was not his Dad but his Stepdad which elicited my "oh that changes things" snarky comment.

I could be wrong, and it is not that big a deal, but if his Stepdad was with him on the unofficial visit then I doubt he and his Stepdad were just hanging out with his friends and decided to stop by the bball offices.

He went down on his own according to the article which was a big deal because he usually wants his stepdad to go to do the talking. He spoke with all the coaches for 30 minutes. I have heard Schilling isn't spending much time that doesn't involve Romeo Langford. Not that he is constantly calling and calling but that he is definitely the main recruiter. Plus he is obviously involved heavily with Keion Brooks right now. I have no complaints. Whatever coach hits it off the best send them full force. Only send more than them for games and visits.

I believe this kid will be a Hoosier and maybe even soon. He has had the IU offer pinned on his twitter for awhile. I tweeted that there is a reason it's pinned lol and he retweeted that with the googly eyes and we all know(not really) what that means nowadays. The multiple visits. He has been here for his last 3 visits I believe. Will be at HH I have heard and just gave a shout out on twitter to a teammate for being the biggest IU fan he knows. That isn't including his step dad's comments either. I want this kid more than anyone in the '19 class besides Wiseman(long shot) and have him right up there with Keion Brooks. Give me those 2 and a big and I absolutely love this class.

“They’d like to see him take his game more out to the perimeter, which he’s working on. They don’t see him as just a back to the basket guy. They see him picking and popping, having the ball in his hands, defensively playing the four position but at times going to the three.
