Pitino and Donovan very close. It was always thought that Donovan would be his replacement at Louisville. It was thought for a few years that Pitino was ready to retire. Now with the NCAA report coming out saying Pitino was indeed responsible for overseeing every aspect of the recruiting scandal, it is HIGHLY LIKELY that Pitino will receive a substantial suspension and possibly a revocation of their last championship. This could push Pitino to a retirement thus moving Donovan into position to take over the coaching job there. I will tell you this...if it is between us and UofL, we will not come out on top.

Honestly believe growing up in So. Indiana that as soon as Pitino is gone the school sinks into anonymity.

They have lots of $$$$ and the Yum Center is top of the line.

While I was all for it, I always had trouble grasping the Donovan-to-Indiana thing. Maybe it'll still happen, but I still just don't see it. I have to admit, I drank the Kool-Aid for a while there. ... But Andy Katz and the Thunder beat writer from the Oklahoma City paper refuted it. To me, those are more credible sources than just about anybody who said Donovan was in B-town (and I'm not a fan of Katz). ... Somehow, we all got hoodwinked!

Really? I hate the Yum Center. It's like a crappy NBA arena. It ridiculously difficult to get in and out of (both the building and aisles) and it has no atmosphere.

I have only been for concerts, but I had no problem getting in or out.

The only reason anyone wants to go to Louisville is for the Derby...and no other reason.
I've been pushing Billy D on this site since November 2014 and i am not giving up hope.

Louisville is actually pretty awesome from a food/beverage/entertainment perspective but Louisville fans are starting to rub me the wrong way. I've given them a pass because we share a mutual hate for Kentucky but at least UK fans understand basketball.

Exactly why I think they don't last after Pitino.

And if that happens Billy would be coming in with sanctions. Not an ideal situation. My guess Pitino has 3 or 4 years left in him at least.

Absolutely not. UofL self imposed sanctions last season will satisfy the NCAA. But Pitino is another fish all together. Look Pitino is close to retirement
I live down here and it is a major topic at the end of every season. Pitino serves out his suspension next season and that will clear the way for Donovan the year after. This will also allow Donovan to see what Westbrook's intentions are. Young Pitino is NOT an option for quite a while. Louisville fanbase would not allow this. They have already lived through one Pitino soiling their image. Jurich is very loyal and has stuck with Rick, but will look elsewhere for a replacement. Like it or not, Rick Pitino is the wild card in all of this. If he has indicated to Donovan that he may be ready to go..
all bets off with Donovan.
