It's pretty much that he hasn't made the tourney with South Carolina in 4 years. He's in the SEC, with only one team in that conference that's consistently good. Why would we go after a coach like that? Because he had them ranked at one point this year? Makes no sense. Crean has a better profile than he does. Lateral move to downgrade imo.

Knight gave Beard GLOWING reviews as well. Has said once he met him right after taking the Texas Tech job he knew he had his son Pat but told Pat he had to get Beard!! IMO it is way to early though to give him a shot here. Could be a good option down the road though and will surely get a better job eventually.

And your surprised? Assembly hall at least on tv doesn't sound nearly as loud as it used to even during the davis and Sampson years. That duke game with Killingworth I though my tv would explode it was so loud. No longer sounds like that.

Honestly with his track record I would hand him the reigns right now. I think he is a very smart coach that has turned every team he has coached around. I just do not know if he would come to IU with his Knight ties and its pretty obvious what Knight thinks of IU anymore, unless he is just like most IU fans and don't like Crean.

I would like to see more before offering him a job here. The Knight ties and Knight thinking so highly of him could make some old boosters push for it though. Texas Tech is not a school to thrive at. For some reason they got horrible reviews when the spot opened. People said it was very hard to recruit there. In a major conference not good news. Knight and Tubby did okay but the ceiling there isn't very high. I think he could land a Texas or Oklahoma type school soon though. Bringing him here would be risky. I do really like his coaching ability though. Seemed to always have a play to counter KU today till the end.
