Are you kidding me? It's a play on of words man

Lol I don't get your point. What's the difference between firing him and forcing him to resign? It's literally the same thing other than how the press release states it. Who cares?

In retrospect, yes it doesn't really matter. As long as he's gone, that's the most important thing. I'm just saying I would like to see him actually fired

I dont. The words Tom Crean is no longer the head coach at Indiana University is all I will read. Then I will begin phase two which is who our next coach is.

I think either way he's going to be fired. Crean doesn't have the personality to voluntarily resign. If we see "Tom Crean resigns as head coach of the Indiana Hoosiers" we'll know Glass fired him. Glass would be letting him say he resigned to save face.

I guess that's true. I just want him gone so bad

What's the difference? It's pretty rare to hear that someone has been fired these days unless they did something heinous. I'm hoping for a "mutual parting of ways", whether it actually was or not.

Exactly. It will be a forced resignation after a settlement has been reached.

I'd prefer that he be sent on his way respectfully. Firing him and embarrassing him after cleaning our program up might send the wrong message or put a bad taste in the mouths of possible successors.

Don't get the animosity. No one else wanted to clean up this shit except Crean. We're talking about at least going after Archie Miller (the less successful brother) when we might instead be asking which high school coach wants to step up. Everyone who is mad at Crean is honestly a fool. Anyone who can respect what he's done, but recognize it's time for him to be done has their head on straight.

According to JMV show today, his guest (reporter) said he knew for 100% certainty that tom Izzo wanted the job and backed off when he found out Crean was in contention.

We don't owe Crean any special debt of gratitude. All he did was keep us from having a Hall of Fame coach again!!

I think millions of dollars to clean up that mess is plenty of "thanks." I'm not into telling others how they should feel or if they have their head on straight. Some take the men's basketball program personally and need a place to vent. These threads seem a perfect place for it.

Like I have said over and over people....Brad Brownell was our next option if Crean passed. He had enough success at Marquette and not just the Final Four run either that he could have went a lot of places but he choose us. I will always respect him for that. I think his welcome is worn out, but please god let him leave for another job. It shows people we handled it the right way and makes other guys more comfortable coming here. If you embarrass a guy who showed up when no one else wanted to, what makes the next guy think if it gets rough he isn't made a mockery?

The administration screwed up the hiring process. It wasnt that no big names were interested.

The animosity comes from crean being a insanely terrible coach and people are tired of watching it imo. Crean did a ok job and cleaning up a mess but not sold that alot of coaches could not have done better. People get mad when watching terrible basketball. Iu fans dont seem to be the type to like terrible d and a ton of turnovers and it makes them mad at coach imo

No kidding man. It's not that no other coach wanted the job. That's lunacy. IU speaks for itself. And any great HC would've cleaned up the mess just like Crean. And would've made it better as well. We owe him no gratitude. This is big time college athletics. You either do your job or you don't. And Crean hasn't done his job so adios to him

If you were a basketball coach and were not at one of the top 30 other programs and didn't want the iu job then you dont want to be successful and should just quit coaching. If duke or unc had sanctions and they call you to come in and coach who wouldn't? Not sure what Marquette paid crean but i bet he made some nice cash being mediocre at iu. If you actually know what you are doing you could make alot more cash at iu and most coaches know that and also believe they know what they are doing

I think there is more to it than that for it to be so cut and dry. Family for instance is huge. Situation is another. They could be in a great situation and great location. Now if the coach were single and with no affiliation to the community or school I would agree with you.
