Here's a crazy thought you don't recruit your QB replacement the year before they are needed. 

I'm not sure why you are trying to argue the QB situation. If He already accepted blame for it he knows it's an issue. 

We'll agree to disagree then. I think we already have a capable QB in Lagow and two promising prospects in Ramsey and King who aren't ready yet.

Btw, take a look at the 2014 QB recruiting class. A LOT of busts on that list. One of the few good ones is Clayton Thorson at NW. He was a top target of ours, Littrell was the lead recruiter, who obviously left for UNC.

I wasn't raised on IU Football like I was IU Basketball. Sure, I caught a few games here or there, but it was never appointment viewing for my dad, so it wasn't for me. Then I went to IU and missed maybe one game in four years. IU was terrible for nearly every year I was there and students just didn't show up. Tailgate, nap, hit the bars or a house party. It's how the system is. Even now that we're getting better, kids still don't want to sit through 4-4.5 hour games. It's a sad reality. I just wish they'd give it a chance, because I enjoy IU Football just as much as I do IU Basketball now, just in different ways. 

I was at the Big House this weekend. When IU went up 7-3 and still held the lead in the 3rd quarter, I never expected a win, but I thought it spoke volumes about how much better this program has gotten. IU doesn't get embarrassed week-in and week-out anymore. It just doesn't happen. That's progress. Obviously, all fans want them to win one of these games. It would be great for the players psychologically and it would be great for recruiting.

IU has a chance to make it to back-to-back bowl games for the first time in 25 years. Doesn't matter how they got there or who they played. IU had to increase the amount of conference games they played this season and they are standing one win away from bowl eligibility. The Bucket could be headed back to Bloomington for the 4th straight season. That's tangible progress. Eventually it might not be enough, but for now it is. 

There were certainly missed opportunities this season. Wake Forest, Nebraska, PSU all spring to mind. Maybe this team should have reached 7 wins instead of 6 (potentially), but it's hard to complain after losing one of the best QBs in IU history, a stud RB, and a first-round offensive linemen.   

Next season is the interesting season to me. Personally I'm confident that Allen will be back as DC. I'm hopeful that either Lagow will make some mechanical improvements or King/Ramsey will take over the starting job. Patrick will hopefully be healthy and a bigger part of the offense. Cobbs and Harris will be back. Maybe next season will be the jump everyone wants. 7 wins and a third straight bowl would be a huge step in the right direction.

Before any of that can happen, beat Purdue and let's go bowling for a second time.

Dan Patrick was just talking about the Purdue job opening on his show. He was saying how anyone who takes that job comes into a currently loaded B1G, then went into how he watched IU/UM Saturday and said he enjoyed watching us and thought IU played really hard and even though we've been a doormat forever, maybe could turn the corner too. Cool to see someone that surely hasn't watched much Hoosier football see what everyone that has is seeing.

KBO, I was raised in a similar fashion. Although my grandfather followed Notre Dame football religiously. I've taken upon myself as an IU alum to talk to my nephews as much as I can about IU football in the hopes that when he's a bit older he'll follow IU football as close as IU basketball. We owe it to the football program to do everything we can to boost the overall numbers. It would be amazing to see Memorial Stadium packed every home game and to see the university forced to increase capacity because it's sold out. One can dream!
