    They Fired Tom Allen!

Hopefully Allen will display what he prides himself on,...a 'man of character' and lover of Indiana. Paul Chryst gently left Madison for far less than his official buyout. Maybe Allen will take responsibility for the situation he's put the program in. Not likely, but not unprecedented.
  2. Gi'Bran Payne, IU's heralded 4* RB recruit from Cincy has been given his release, citing 'relationship changes'. This stuff has been happening too much, eased transfer provisions or not. I'm sure the McCulloch move may have played a significant role,..but I wonder if OL concerns, when he arrived for Spring practice, bothered him? Hmmm..
  3. These insights are confirmation of my suspicions. Even to an outsider, it is somewhat apparent the 'Hiller thing' isn't a 'normal thing'. As for McCulloch, ...he has a reputation he's built. Why jeopardize it having to run behind DH's schemes and low level recruits for that matter? I noted upon Bell's hire that he had an actual coaching history with Hiller. Have to believe Allen made sure whomever he hired wouldn't 'mess' with his boy. The pigeons are coming back to roost. Allen's cover and treatment of DH may end up costing him his own job. Most objective OC's would have gotten rid of the Pillsbury dough boy as a condition of the hiring. McCulloch's gone. Allen is still at IU, blindly loyal and hardheaded.
  4. B1G get for program. A seasoned, traditional SEC QB with good numbers. Provided the OL can do their job,..IU, with this class and a boatload of solid transfers should be very competitive. Congrats to Allen and those on the phone.
  5. Great resume'. Notable success at every level. Another piece of the puzzle. Congrats CTA. Frankly, I'm not only pleased, but surprised at what Allen has accomplished this offseason.
  6. Like I said, 'QB practice fodder'. A non rated by one service, 2* by another, Reece Lozano from Bloomington North. Rated 272nd QB in country #58 in state. 1 offer. Indiana State.
  7. That would be nice. Hope it happens. Not usually how it works.
  8. Leb, You're right, who knows? But the fact that a 6 year backup might be the hope of the program going forward,..well, like you said, who knows? The thrust of my original, post was simply this,..there are/have been about 8, maybe 9 desireable QB's wanting to go elsewhere. That group is now depleted. Every school that wanted one had a 'shot'.
  9. NOWHERE did I say CTA couldn't recruit. This class is amazingly ranked between 18-14 depending what service is referenced. That said, this, and everyone of his 'classes' have been defense heavy, which is fine. That's Allen's comfort zone. I'll get to the point on this portal thing. Part of what a new OC SHOULD bring to the program is a bit of recruiting gravitas. So far it's all been negative. If you're a kid leaving Oregon, Texas, USC, Baylor,..even Incarnate Word,....how excited are you about going to play under Walt Bell at Mass, just fired with a 2-10 record (and IU for that matter with ZERO conference wins?
  10. "talking IU football here". At last check IU had a multimillion dollar coaching staff and played in the toughest conference division in FBS. Developing Tuttle?
  11. Your response not only is 'clouded' but makes no sense. Wasn't the Lawrence North QB, a 4* right out of high school?
  12. 8 top QB flips have gone elsewhere since Hoover announced. I'm sure IU was making inquiries to at least some of them.
  13. That's cute, but not relevant in THIS cycle. He also had Josh Hoover flip. CTA made it clear that getting a top HS AND a portal QB was his primary focus in the immediate days ahead. The FACT is anyone worth getting is already gone. I put some of this on Bell. Prospects look at what's out there and didn't like what they saw. IU might get a 'body' or two but it'll be practice squad fodder, and you know it.
  14. Too bad Allen's superior defensive recruiting influence doesn't carry over to offensive QB's. The top 8 have gone elsewhere. Have to believe what's happened ever since the Bell announcement hasn't helped. By the way, saw a stat that completion %'s under Bell as a HC and OC is below the accepted minimal standard of 60%,...56.4%. It's too bad that at least one of "the boxes" that wasn't checked, is recruiting guys looking for somewhere else to play.
  15. Latest whifffff...Caden Curry.
  16. Don't expect this to change. Bell and Hiller are old buddies. Things may improve to an acceptable level on offense, across the board before next season. If not,...it is obvious last season might be the highwater point by comparison. Have you noticed that each year Allen/IU are more reliant on transfers, players from out of state. If coach McCulloch took another job and his kids with him it'd be even worse.
  17. I see that LB Cameron Smith is bailing ship. LEO? Really.
  18. Correct. Their paths have crossed. He was on staff with Hiller. Hiller has been a big part of the problem. [ "What not do research" ] Sounds as though you might try a remedial 5th grade English class. The overriding point is this: Walt Bell's history indicates absolutely nothing that will be successful in the B1G. This isn't Arkansas St., Massachusetts, or, in Allen's case, USF or Ben Davis High School.
  19. I was hoping that AD Dolson might intervene and dissuade or keep this from going to contract. Allen has accomplished 1 thing with this new hire. Every position coach is safe for 2022, until Allen is fired, either mid season or after the Bucket game.

Put Tom Allen on the hot seat

Ironically, it appears Allen picked Bell knowing that he was previously on staff with Hiller. Realistically, it's just the opposite of what was needed.

Put Tom Allen on the hot seat

You "suspect". Are you his dad or agent? Maybe psychic? Timing of his announcement MOST LIKELY was determined by Bell news.
  22. And exactly what embodies a 'decent resume'? If his record as an OC is indictative of what to expect, then don't be surprised if IU goes oh-fer in the conference again. The overriding issue is that this guy is another that coached with Allen at Arkansas State, like Hiller. It's obvious CTA didn't want anyone messing with his 'vaunted' offensive coaching staff. Think about it!
  23. Multi awarded Texas H S QB Josh Hoover has tweeted his decommittment from IU. It comes shortly after leaked info on probable new OC Walt Bell.

Put Tom Allen on the hot seat

Josh Hoover just decommitted! Likely going to Tex Tech. I'm sure the Walt Bell intended hiring made up his mind. Allen's decision to hire Bell is the final nail in his football HC coffin. It's one thing to have disgruntled roster players hit the portal, entirely a different level when verbals bail out because they can read the tea leaves. Unless Dolson fires Allen it will continue to spiral out of control....Hoover won't be the last. I know it sounds dramatic,...but it has now become a living breathing problem. Disastrous.
