That surprised me too.  He was between 40%-43% from 3 his last two years of high school and is a good athlete.  He could definitely do some things coming off that redshirt.

Apparently he really struggled with a lot of the defensive concepts that Painter wants out of his guys. Wasn’t an issue with his offense.

This is 100% fact. Boiler you can "agree to disagree" all you want.

It’s a moot point now but there was talk that Xavier and Purdue were at the top of his list. One of the rivals guys switched his pick from Purdue to IU after Furst committed. Purdue felt confident in their chances to land Kaufman before Furst committed.

I said I highly doubt it. Not that it’s highly doubtful. There is a difference there. And mostly based off track record but also that it’s early for 2021 recruits, particularly 5 star ones. I’ve seen Indiana “lead” for so many 5 stars early only to be outbided later on. I expect much of the same.

That’s fair. Will be interesting to see what he does.

So Purdue is about to land 5 star Harrison Ingraham?  He's a SF from Dallas.  I've never heard of him but it pretty much eliminates them from landing Kaufman.

Don’t think anything is imminent. He’s really high on Purdue but don’t think he’s ready to decide yet. But yeah that’d take us out of the Kaufman recruitment unfortunately.

This game in a nutshell makes no difference. 8-5 or 9-4 makes no difference and its still the best season in 25 yrs. Its a disappointing loss but changes our trajectory very little.

What I worry about is if we can sustain this? I have seen to many examples of a historically bad teams bubble up briefly only to not sustain it and with the clock management issues I see I am more worried.

If we can sustain this and make another bowl next year (and 7 wins should be a minimum starting point given easy schedule) this should be forgotten. I have just seen to many examples of teams returning everyone from a historic good season and fall off the face of the earth and not handle success (17-18 NW basketball and 14-15 Neb basketball come to mind as does PU in football this year).

Purdue in football this year? We won 6 games last year (not a historically good season) and got blasted in the bowl game, then proceeded to lose a significant number of our best players to injury. Don’t think that’s comparable at all to NW/Nebraska. Not even close really.

Congrats on the season. 8 wins is 8 wins.

Why? Outside of those 4 years Purdue was pretty consistently bowl eligible and won 8 or so games quite often. This is Indiana’s first 8 win season since ‘93 or something. We are historically in a fight between Kansas for the title of worst FBS program in history.

Oh I was just referring to this decade alone. Hope won 4 games, 7, and then 6. Then Hazell went 1, 3, 2, and 3 lol. Then Brohm has gone 7, 6, and 4. So basically averaging 4 wins a year over the decade.

Florida 3 Stars>The 4 star guys that Brohm keeps landing.

David Bell has to be regretting going there over Indiana. I hope he decides to transfer.

Bell and Karlaftis has pretty good seasons for our 4* guys.  And I highly doubt Bell is regretting anything. 3rd most receiving yards in the conference and a near lock for freshman All-American honors.

Recruiting instate guys in football will not make you alot of money! Injuries or not, Brohm is paid top dollars. You would have to agree so far your not seeing a very good return on investment. Allen's connections in the South are paying dividends for what he is paid.

ROI isn’t great but it’s been a year that was mostly out of his control. If we win 4 games next year with a healthy roster, that’ll be time to sound the alarm.

We are hoping to avoid the injury bug next season as well. We've had more than our share this season. Injuries are not exclusive to the PUs.

I know they’re not exclusive to Purdue. Just sucks when it feels like our injured guys seem to be all of our best players you know? Moore, Sindelar, Bailey, and Neal to be particular.

Well they’ll have plenty of time to heal after next week while watching the bowl games from home!

Honestly, getting healthy is of absolute necessity this year. Not going to a bowl game sucks but we have to get our guys healthy again. In my 20 years following Purdue, can’t remember a year where so many were lost due to injury. Hopefully next year we avoid the serious injury bug.
