Exactly.  Penix is a better player.  Ramsey is a good QB and a great kid.  He showed more this year than he did last, and player really well for the most part last season.  But....Penix has tools Ramsey just doesn't have, and will be the starter.  I laugh at people who make the claim he can't stay healthy.    He broke his collarbone.  It's not like he had a minor sprain that kept popping up.  Good Lord.

Before Ramsey left, we had the 5th most returning offensive production and 3rd most defensive production in D1 returning.  With Ramsey transferring, that number drops for the offense....but if Penix stays healthy, realistically it doesn’t.

Michael Penix is a more talented quarterback and can elevate this program to the next level if he stays healthy the next few years. I don’t want to rag on Ramsey in his “tribute” thread, but Penix did more than just practice well.
Congrats to Peyton on a great career at IU and best of luck at his next stop.

Not surprising, been rumored for a while now. He wasn't going to stick around and fight for the job again. Don't blame him one bit.
Dude has nothing but respect from me, played his butt off for this team and left everything he had on the field every game.
    Best of luck to him!

I’m REALLY glad someone finally brought up the Hoosier Hysterics guys. They are the most cringe-worthy fans I’ve ever seen in my life. I seriously can’t believe how popular they’ve become with people like Peegs, Rabjohns, former players, Knight for crying out loud. The main guy legit started a Dawson Garcia chant during that Blue Bird event and essentially wrote love letters to him on Twitter. They make extremely weird/cringey videos and tweets regularly. Just super strange behavior from 40+ year old adults.
To the fanbase point, it’s ridiculous. The people bringing up the seemingly loud minority are just as bad as them. The positive fans outweigh the negative 100-1, but for some ridiculous reason people in the media and recruits, which I believe is a total copout and an easy reason to say they went somewhere else, like to site this as reasons for our recruiting woes. It’s like having hundreds of fans waiting for your autograph, to only point out the one guy in the back booing you, and picking up and leaving because you were upset about the one guy. It’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard. People with power that are affiliated with IU and pushing this narrative are hurting us even more by shedding light on a phenomenon that doesn’t exist. It’s giving a voice to those that don’t deserve an ounce of thought.

That's because that was a break game with student section re-sold (8,000 tickets). Those have never sold out and growing up these were the games my family would go to. Look at the box scores from the Knight era and all are listed as sellouts of over 17K EXCEPT the break games which were 14-15k. Nothing has changed there in history of program.
IU still has full 'sellouts' with students in session but the number of no-shows and the low price of the secondary market is a warning sign and always the first indication that people are ready to drop their season tickets soon and then it will hit IU in the pocket book. For this year revenue is not hurt at all but it will moving forward without a winning product.
As I said this was warning sign for Colts in 2017 before 2018 and now they have 10,000 unsold seats a game from the team. IU is getting a warning sign and if it does not heed it the bottom line is about to take a hit money wise.

Was working tonight, so didn't get to see much of the game. Just listened to Archie's and Izzy's post-game pressers ... Man, Izzy is one angry, bitter old cuss at us, and I'm guessing it's because we fired his buddy, Crean. He's probably pissed about that on two fronts: 1) They're friends; 2) He probably figured that nine times out of 10, he could beat Crean.
He said that tonight, a kid who hits 12 percent makes the 3 to put us ahead. I'm presuming he's referring to Al? He wasn't shooting great, but was better than 12 percent. ... And he said MSU has to take everyone's best shots and everywhere they go, it's a sellout and the fact that our fans were supposed to wear red shirts was, essentially, a tribute to how tough MSU is -- because those kinds of promotions are usually reserved for weekends. Huh?

Last year, he fussed about injuries after both games and fussed about how a crummy shooter like Justin Smith went off during the game in Bloomington.

I think here is the difference between us. You viewed it as iu had to win that game because you don’t see 6 more wins on the schedule so winning that game was a must win to give them a chance to win 5 more of the remaining games. For me based on how the committee has selected teams in the past I didn’t view this as a win they had to have. Before last night all IU had to do was win 6 games to make the tournament. Doesn’t matter what 6 wins they have they just need 6. 1 “bad loss” wouldn’t of changed that.
Care to guess how many at-large teams had at least 1 quad 3 or 4 loss last year?

I had such high hopes for you today. So the Nebraska road would only be significant if it is a loss and mean nothing at all, or possibly be detrimental according to your logic, if it is a win? I’m really trying to understand the logic but I’m coming up zeroes on it.

IU is 3-3 away from Assembly Hall. Those neutral court wins are more valuable then some on here wanted to believe. any wins away from home are big during selection. IU is in better shape then most believe

Committee could care less what is relative to Belmont. Each team is viewed as the same during selection. So if committee thinks a road win is good for Belmont then a road win for IU, Miss valley St, Santa Clara, Purdue, Duke, North Texas and so on is going to be viewed as a good win. Must win? Interesting take since tournament teams especially seeds 6-12 almost always have Quad 3 losses. For a team that has only lost to NET top 31 teams this wouldn’t of been viewed as a horrible loss

Where are we going with this debate?

Yeah I was telling brass in the other thread with the strength of the B1G I would be fairly confident as long as they beat Nebraska that they would make it with 18 wins. Probably could also with losing to Nebraska but I wouldn’t be as confident. Keep in mind Ohio st got in last year at 8-12 in conference and only beat 1 top 5 B1G team and beat 1 tournament quality team in the non conference. Let’s not find out if 18 wins is enough. Lol

On IU’s team sheet the one the committee uses IU’s Non conference SOS is 57 and overall SOS is 45. It’s projected to be 14th overall.

After all the talk of our non-conference SOS, IU's non-conference SOS checks in at 195 on Pom.  That's better than five Big Ten teams -- some by a big margin.  Illinois' was the worst at 309.
Overall, our SOS checks in 68 and ESPN's BPI projected that entering today that our remaining schedule would be the toughest SOS in the nation.  At the end of the day, we are going to have a top 20 SOS overall.

In my opinion Rutgers shouldn’t be lumped into the same group as Nebraska or northwestern this year. If you would of said Rutgers at home is a bad loss then I would maybe agree but losing to them on the road wouldn’t be considered a bad loss for me at least. I watched Seton Hall get drilled earlier in the year and Seton Hall is a really good team. At least for this year Rutgers is playing at a level that is more in line with the middle of the B1G instead of the bottom. Just my opinion

    That’s utter crap.
If we’d lost the home games to Nebraska or NW, those would’ve been bad losses. But we didn’t lose those games.
If a team is gonna lose 8-12 games, losses like Wisky and Maryland on the road are the exact definition of “not a bad loss”.

I think a whole lot of that is simply confidence in his body.  Between he, Phinisee, Davis, Green, and Thompson, Indiana's had an awful lot of injury problems the last couple of seasons.

40 minutes of effort goes a long way! Loved this game - easy to say after a 12 point win but it wasn’t the win that was awesome, it was the hustle and effort that made that possible
