Hmm. Interesting. In basketball terms Indiana’s basketball program is above Butler’s by every metric I can think of to compare them. Money, recruiting, history, expectations, national recognition, etc, etc. Butler is solid. Indiana is/was a blue blood program.

Didn't I mention overall history???? Isn't what matters to these high school kids is recent history? Yes, IU has more money, supposed better recruits, higher expectations (unrealistic for current crappy program).Which school has easily won at every metric in the last 15 years?? Not only is that very clear, you can say it has also been done with less (recruits, money and coaching). Where do Butler's former coaches go....Celtics President and Ohio State??? IU's- UAB-fired, Texas Southern something or other, Georgia- fired, and Rhode Island-soon to be fired?? 9-6 in tournament appearances with a HUGE disparity in results. Hmmmmmm all that is real interesting going forward with what these kids are looking for today. Matta and Big East will be a combination that Butler has not had yet with probably a major upgrade in recruiting. Their conference has teams that also get past the Sweet 16 occasionally, not get pounded in conference play, then not make tournament, and then see your conference get pounded in the first 2 rounds.

That is exactly what some of these people on here deserve!!!! This crap and attitude of IU's program being above and beyond Butler is ridiculous, and I am a fan of both schools. The overall history might be, but that is it!! Currently, they are on equal ground, but they KNOW HOW to fix a mistake when they make one.

Lol man we’re talking about a reckless driving arrest. He’s not Aaron Hernandez. Do you think Kansas or North Carolina would dismiss their best point guard for a reckless driving charge? Cmon.

Normal kid, no thought of kicking him off. But I think some of these people want to see IU win so bad, that they overlook his actions. He is a ticking time bomb ready to explode. Several incidents that could have quickly got out of hand. Out of what I have seen, an even more aggressive instigator than Ron Artest was about 2 years before the big brawl. Between that and off-court issues it would not be crazy for a lot to think he should be gone. Even though Woodson has improved the on-court performance to an extent, this is still one big clown show!!!

He got zero run in that game and all the excuses from fans were that our starters were gassed. How is he not able to come in for 1 min in the middle of each half to give TJD a breather?

we subbed out other starters and brought in a walk in.

2 starters looked like walk ons all season!!!

He averaged 19 points per game at East Tennessee State. He shot over 40% from three in ACC play as a freshman at Pitt.   Ball State and Indiana aren't 'above his level'.

Oh yeah, I forgot all about that team that went 0-18 in the ACC and 8-24 overall. You ought to really look at stats closer if you want to bring that up. What about a team record of 17-44?? What about a lower FG% than 3pt FG%?? What about leading the team on turnovers?? The IU games have already proven that he is non-factor in ANY WAY most of time. He doesn't even have an affect on IU with turnovers or shooting a lot. He is just pointless.....Did you see that airball 3 with 4 to go in 1st half against Penn St.???? Sorry, I don't mean to ba an ***, but I can't help it.

Stewart is close, I just think CMW needs to keep running sets for him, specifically starting the game to get him going and involved

If they started doing that, teams would easily shut him down. He is a couple levels above his head. We should be watching him play at Ball St or Ind St.(even that is ????? in my opinion)  Consistency is this teams biggest problem, but you CAN NOT put yourself at a disadvantage from starting Stewart and Kopp also. You already know Phinissee is going to be a negative in at least 1 out of 3 games. The rest of this team is not good enough to over come the problems these 3 bring to the team.

More minutes for Phinisee is a good idea if you’re trying to lose. None of our bench options are better than what we have in our starting lineup. Kopp/Stewart went 10-21 from 3 against Syracuse. Woody just needs to get them open shots. Right now it looks like they have no idea what they’re doing on offense.

You CAN NOT get marginal (at best) Div. 1 players open shots if you don't have really good offensive players out there with them. They (miller/Kopp) are way out of their league. Johnson has his own problems also. If Franklin and Hunter were familiar with Johnson at all, it is no wonder they didn't stay. This team is lacking severely at PG, SG, and SF. Geronimo has been one of the brighter spots on this team, but you can't really have him out there all the time with your 2 best players out there with him. I really don't see a good combination, Miller and most definitely Stewart should move down the list a few spots.

Bad loss. Bad team. This is now where IU is. IU is in the grouping of PSU, Minn, Neb, Rutgers and Northwestern. Lower expectations exponentially and maybe we won't be as disappointed?

No need to insult Rutgers....weren't they in the NCAA tourney last year and beat Purdue this year???? I made NO comments about hiring Woodson when they did, but I KNOW you don't hire a 60+year old that has never coached in college for a major rebuild of a top program that has been destroyed slowly for 24-25 years (and yes that includes the last 3-4 years of Knight!!)

OMG!!!!!!!!!!  How is Stewart even in an IU uniform????? I could understand using his shooting on a team that is loaded and to help spread the floor at times. Not on this team, that has almost nothing. I can't believe no one ever talks about this. I guess because they are so obsessed with having shooting! If he is playing a lot of minutes, it needs to be somewhere like IUPUI or Evansville!!!! Unbeleivable!

We also don’t know if he took anything to go to Kentucky. He’s been a bust but he was very regarded out of HS. If I’m gonna be cool with an instate kid who spurned IU for Kentucky, transfering here it needs to be a All BigTen First Team lock. Brooks doesn’t deserve a scholarship at IU and there are better options in the portal than him.

Can you blame a kid for not wanting to be coached by Miller????? If that was the case, which I do not know, but that could have been very possible. Miller looked very bad from the ISU game his first season. That could go back to Crean's days too. If I was a top 100 recruit, I would have chosen somewhere else between 2013 to about a week ago.

Maybe missed it but is anyone considering Stevens may be using us to get more money/ player commitments out of the Celtics?

That is one of the dumbest things I have ever heard!!! Have you not watched the way he handles himself over the last 13-14 years?? From what I remember, there was not one sign or rumor of him taking the Boston job 8 years ago. That stuff is one reason why everybody wants him so bad. The only thing I will question is if any of this is true about him wanting the job.

He reclassified to be a guy who shoots 30%, can’t play defense, and averages 2points per game.  That’s more than just “not Vonleh”.  He’s not even what Phinisee was as a freshman.

I am glad some other people see this too. How some of these players are rated are beyond me. There is a kid playing for Greensburg right now that would run circles around lander as far as running an offense and getting to the basket. When you have Phinisee and Durham as your guards, and you have a lot of pressure on you as a coach, you need to have a better plan than Lander.

The letter was sent to Mike Conley, but was written for Sharron Collins. Both players were top 5 PG’s in the class. Collins ended up at Kansas and IU had no shot at Conley after that. So both Conley and Oden went to OSU.

edit: Could you imagine the team of Conley, Vaden, DJ White, Oden, Ratliff, Wilmont, Allen, Etc.  even with Davis as a coach, this is a final four caliber team.

This could be never ending!!! Being from the same town and hearing reliable information about the recruitment of Matt Howard it could have made things a lot different during that time. From what I know Davis showed no interest in Howard in high school and when Sampson took over he immediately went after Howard and wanted him. Only problem is....Howard had a really funny feeling about the way Sampson was doing things and must have scared him off.(He is a very smart guy and was definitely right). The part that I am speculating on is that if Howard goes to IU, then I think the chances that Gordon Hayward ends up at IU also increase a lot. Could you imagine how much differnt IU and Butler basketball would look today????? Even though I am as big of a Butler fan as IU, that would have been a dream scenario if during that mess with Davis and trying to bring in Sampson they would have had any idea what they had up the road at Butler and hired Brad Stevens. With the coaches that have been here for the last 20 years, it is hard telling what all has been missed out on over that time.

get rid of archie and you lose lander, the number one point guard in the country

If Lander chose IU solely because of Miller, then I would say his decision making isn't very good.

  15. I dont post much on here very often, but I have been very negative about Justin Smith when I have posted anything. Today he made a lot of big plays that didnt involve scoring or his athletic ability. They may have very well lost that game without him, so he deserves a lot of credit. If this team wants to be better next year, it is going to depend on him and Miller putting Brunk as a backup to Jackson-Davis and Thompson in the starting lineup.  If he can do it every game is still the big question. No one wants to see it once every 10 games next year like we saw that with Green this year.

  16. 2 - 6 in the final 8 games. If they lose to Iowa and Penn St. their win total may remain at 15 for the season. 17 - 14 would get them a NIT bid that I dont think would be very deserving. The one constant that has been the same for Millers 3 years in every game is Justin Smith. I wish they would just put him on the bench for a few games with no minutes. He looks like he has no idea how to PLAY the game and I cant say for sure if it is all him or if Miller puts him in a lot of bad positions(Green would have to stay on the bench also). Crean really worked Indiana over on that recruit. Problem with that is though is they dont even have a backup at that position which also goes back to Miller. Hunter is really it and I see him as more of a SG. It would be worth a try because I think he has played 25 - 30 minutes every game since his freshman year

Our talent is fine. Otherwise we couldn’t keep beating MSU. In game coaching is terrible. Even Cal is a better in game coach and he’s got all 5 stars for the most part.

Horrible reasoning. Blame the coach when they lose to everyone else, but they can overcome it when they are playing against the best coach in the Big 10????? I admit, he is bad in every phase of coaching, but sometimes bad teams just have good teams number. They are very short on talent in todays game with the importance of 3 point shooting and 2 players (Smith and Green) that should be told to go home and not come back.

Welcome home big fella! You are the kind of recruit we should have gone after harder in the past—a tough—hard nosed—Indiana kid who will bring hustle and passion to the program. Better late than never. Now help us turn the culture around and let’s get back to our winnin’ ways!

    Hoo—Hoo—Hoo—Hoosiers!

OMG!!!!!!!! I have got to pull this one back up next March. This is a horrible direction to go unless davis isnt staying for his last year. I dont really like the 3 point shot and the new way most college and pro teams play, you have to adapt to the way the game is played. This is doing a complete opposite.I really dont think they have a direction and seem totally lost. Welcome home???? He is leaving home to go to Bloomington.

I hope you are right!!! I am totally confused about a lot of you about him. Are you guys hooked on terrible high school player rankings and Indiana kids? I am a big Butler fan and have saw him play more than enough. His better games were against low-level teams and struggled most other times in a conference that was very poor this year.  I have only watched Jackson-Davis play once in New Castle against Westveiw. And it wasnt a good one. If it wasnt for a bench player that had Romeo hair, they would have lost that game. But I did see enough to know Jackson-Davis is a CENTER. He is not a 4. Davis is a center also. All 3 are centers ONLY. You can not play 2 of these 3 guys together. This team has way too many needs in other areas. 3 centers that expect playing time is not a good solution to this disaster.

I forgot to mention a healthy Race Thompson. If this team can stay healthy, we can be really really good.

Did you go to Fantasy Land for spring break?????? I am not gonna say anything bad about Brunk after what he has been through after high school, but come on. I am just as big of Butler fan as IU, but he was playing on a team that was one of the worst teams in a conference that was really bad this year. None of these teams(Big East) had very strong inside games at all. A lot of his stats came against the weaker non conference teams. When I heard of the transfer I was thinking (Ball State,Miami of Ohio, Indiana State) than I was IU. Then I see all of this on here about a lot of people excited about him. Is it because he WAS a top 100 recruit and from Indiana coming out of high school??? Things change, and in this situation expectations should be a lot lower than they were 3 years ago. You want a good example of kids being over-rated in high school, go dig up a video of Southport vs Connersville in the 2016 regional.

Armaan's high school career ended this evening as Lawrence North defeated Cathedral 65 - 59.   Unofficially, Armaan finished with 30 pts. on 11-18 FG; 2-7 on 3's (one was a 3/4 court heave); 6-9 FT; 3 reb; 2 assts; 3 stls; 1 TO; 2 blks.  Cathedral had no interior defense and LN got way too many points and second chance points in the paint.

Well at least he will be use to losing in the 1st round of a tournament.
