I agree. For now. His shot does look sooooo much better than I remember from last season. Like it’s a different dude or something. Your right. When open and when the timing is right. What I mean is, I don’t yet want him taking a three even if open, if we have clanked deep balls on successive prior possessions.

As the AD, I'm not concerned with Holtman, Mack or Beard, other than keeping tabs on Beard in the event that the current situation doesn't work out. But, I'm not judging or reviewing Archie based on those guys. They all took over very different situations. This idea that Holtman in particular, took over a similar situation and is killing Archie is false. It's narrative that isn't really there if you add context to the conversation.
I'm judging Archie on his own merits. Is the program heading in the right direction? Is progress being made? Can I see his system being implemented and becoming successful and is year-to-year improvement there? Is he building the culture I/we want for IU basketball? And, of course how is recruiting going?

Ha! ... You know, it's funny -- I thought, and still think to this day, that we got totally hosed by the officials against Duke in the 1992 Final Four. ... And I know a lot of IU fans thought that was a bad call in 2002 against Duke, but IMO, Fife did foul Williams. ... And man, was that a stupid play. ... We got sooooo lucky in those final seconds that night. But still, it was a helluva win.

Seems that they are set on getting another guard. Beverly and Quinones both being recruited by IU. It'll be interesting to see what happens over the next couple months.

We're 1/3 of the way through Feb.; this season is in the tank; we know we badly need help for next year.  So we're flirting with Quinones and maybe with Harlond Beverly who already have a number of high D1 offers and will likely be making their announcements sometime in the next 10 weeks.  IMO we're too little too late and smacks of desperation to me. (Not that we aren't desperate!)

I'm not BSing anyone. Compare Ramsey's stats this year to McSorley's stats this year. Ramsey had a better year throwing the football. I said nothing about "career averages". You tried making your own argument because you had no ammunition to use against mine.
    Completion Percentage: Ramsey - 66%; McSorley - 53.5%
    Passing Yards: Ramsey - 2,875; McSorley - 2,285
    Touchdowns: Ramsey - 19; McSorley - 16
    Passer Rating: Ramsey - 128.2; McSorley - 124.2
Where did I BS anyone? Heck, we can even look at your favorite category, yards per attempt. Ramsey was at 6.4, McSorley was at 6.9. A whopping half yard difference. And that's a senior McSorley compared to a sophomore Ramsey.
As far as I know I've never said that Ramsey is a "good" quarterback. I've always said that he is an average one. You, on the other hand, have been touting him all season as a Zander Diamont caliber quarterback in order to excuse the piss poor performance from the offensive coordinator. When DeBord opened the playbook up a bit what happened? Ramsey made some throws downfield. He doesn't have a great arm, but there was no reason to handicap him as much as DeBord did for the majority of the season. He made some very good throws downfield when given the opportunity.

Proud of the team for closing without Juwan in there. I was really excited for Justin Smith this year and have been wildly disappointed. The team so much better when he is not in there

Hey Hardwood, I'm really sorry for overreacting myself.  Hugs all around, we're all zealous IU fans.
When I was younger, I was way too emotionally invested in IU hoops.  I used to swear I was going to die of a heart attack during an IU basketball game.  I just lived and died by the Hoosiers, and it wasn't healthy.
I now live in a town with a D3 school that has pretty good athletics.  I've gotten to know a lot of the kids that play for the school, and I watch how these kids work their butts off to play a game they love (and in the case of D3 don't even get a scholarship to play).  They are amazing kids, and knowing them enriches my life.  When I watch them play, I can start to get worked up over some dumb turnover or, even worse, missed free throws....then I think, wait a minute, I know Jack, and that kid works his butt off day in and day out and loves this game as much as any kid I've ever met.  So the whole 'character' reference just set me off.
But I get where you're coming from.  We can all agree these last few games have been subpar performances, but I think it's a dang good sign that we could have a subpar performance and win by 14 (and be a tip-in or a horrible call away from being 6-0).  Last year's team didn't have that kind of resilience -- we were losing to ISU and IPFW instead.  The trajectory of the program is in the right direction overall, I think.
