Maybe by you, maybe by the majority. I'm not going to though. Glass was solid. There was nothing wrong with the Miller hire.. it just didn't work.
Idk what there is to judge him on about Crean about. I also don't understand why we can't just be happy Dolson is doing well and why Glass needs to be drug through the mud at all. Makes no sense and it is what jealous/insignificant people do.

Edit--- not saying you are doing this, but others certainly are.

Doctor Jones reacted to lucel15 in 2020 IUFB Class Ranking
I don’t think anyone is making excuses.  You’re talking about recruiting and people are talking about rankings? If you expect freshmen to win games at IU then this convo isn’t for you. It’s been stated by people who support Tom Allen on here and people who still don’t care for him....you have to have depth on all facets of the game.... when Allen was given the reigns do you realize how many recruiting holes there were? And to the men’s point above and on other threads the past two recruiting cycles have been the best in decades. Going back to 2018 class Tom Allen has signed and I’ll add verbals since there’s I think 2 from the 2020 class right now, 17 of the top 40 all time recruits in IU football history since the modern era of rankings began......by the end of this week or next I will say we will add 3-5 more verbals for this class not to mention we are in the running for several highly ranked recruits which will bump our ranking and make you happier. We aren’t going to have 5-10 4* or higher kids in our recruiting class. We’ve never had that. Last year we finished top 40 and if you were able to add transfer rankings...Tuttle you are looking at possibly a top 30 class. To win in college football you have to have depth and not only depth but depth of talented players, just because they aren’t 88s or higher doesn’t mean they can’t compete or help us out. Micah mcfadden spelling is off maybe, was a .79 with a crappy offer list and I’d say he was one of the better surprises out of the last recruiting class to play for IU. The coaches have a good handle on things and the strength staff is regarded as one of the best in the nation....lucky to have kept them as I know coach ballou, he had offers to head to the pros and even the big boys from the SEC came knocking for him.....the pieces are in place to start building on this foundation. Yeah 5-7 the past two season sucks, but after watching interviews and listening to successful coaches and how they recruit... you must find kids that fit your system, recruit depth at those positions and then you create a competition mindset within your team. Nothing against kdub because he did get us to bowl games, but he had no depth and couldn’t at a consistent level. Yes he hit some home runs with several players, but the low to mid 3*s we have been getting would probably be high 3*-4* ranking level if they weren’t from Florida the pipelines this whole staff is building is impressive if you look at where these kids are coming from. Sorry for the long post men, but the whole rankings thing is fun to look at and what not, but you’re upset that we are at the bottom Right now? We were at the bottom technically after this past signing period and we were top 40.....in this class we have one of the highest rated players ever to verbal to IU and he’s basically the Tiwan Mullen of this class in terms of getting on kids and starting group chats trying to get kids to come to IU and start something special. Cheers men, should see more commits soon from what I’m told.

All due respect?  (I know there is WAY too much arguing here...not my intent)    Kid bench presses in the 400's, squats in the 600's, and averages > 10 yards per carry because good teams can't tackle him (you ever tried tackling a short guy who squats 600 pounds and has 4% body fat?  I have.  Good luck.)  and because he is "fast enough."   He's also a terrific blocker and incredibly bright as a football player.  How tall, by the way is J'Shun Harris?   Anthony Thompson was 5'10" 190 in high school.   I don't know your background at all, but what don't you see?
Do you remember Maurice Jones-Drew?   I see a whole lot of him in Spegal.   Barry Sanders was 5'8" 205.  In the NFL.   By the way.
If I'm Tom Allen, I can't offer this kid fast enough.  Hell, so what if you miss??   New Pal IS a machine.  You don't think a school that close to IU's campus and that set records a year ago can't send kids who can help?    I'm telling you, he will get big time D1 offers.  There's a reason Michigan State and Wisconsin were there to watch him.    This is a no brainer to me.  I'd take 10 of him and dare teams to work harder or play harder than my team does.  He doesn't get an offer from Indiana, I'll bet you a cold beer he ends up in the Big Ten somewhere and we'll wish we'd offer.   And NOT said "he just doesn't check the boxes...."   Indiana does not have that luxury.  We need football players.  This kid is a badass football player.

Winning consistently is more important than winning NOW.   Indiana needs to be in the top 3-4 in the Big Ten next season; make the NCAA tournament, perhaps win a few games; and then do it again.  And again.  And again.   That's far more important than a "NOW" one year solution.

No..that's not what he's judged on.   Maybe by you.
How do you know there would be no interest?   Do you know he ran the Indianapolis Capital Improvement Board before he came to Indiana?  Indy's been kinda' successful with sports and conventions; and he's largely to thank for a lot of that.   Don't believe your own judgement of him is everyone else's judgement of him.  Or better yet, look beyond what you consider important.
I don't pretend he's done a great job with everything; but judging Glass because of what happened on the basketball court in Archie's second season with a flawed and injured roster is pretty narrow.   Sorry...

Okay, let's boil this down.   When Archie was hired, many people here and elsewhere lauded it because he was thought of as a great and young up and coming coach.   He may still be, despite this season's record.   How can you take what Archie has done (with ONE recruiting class of his own), criticize the roster, which is still largely Crean's, and extrapolate that into "what a terrible athletic director?"
This roster was flawed, injured, and exposed when Phinisee went down.  There is a long explanation of that sentence, but I've already explained in another thread.   Has nothing to do with Fred Glass.   He didn't hire Crean.
Listen, I hate the athlete bill of rights.   It's ridiculous and paralyzing to coaches.  I hate the kumbaya attitude and that there doesn't seem to be a priority on winning in the major sports.   But here are some facts :
    1)  Even in football, Indiana is bringing in better players than ever before.  This 2019 recruiting class is its highest ranked in school history.
    2)  Last year, for the 6th consecutive year, Indiana set its own graduation success rate.  91% of our athletes graduate.   Fans may not prioritize that, but the powers that be do.  And Indiana had perfect scores in 2018 in 10 sports.  Including men's basketball.
    3)  This coming season, Indiana will spend more on its football program than ever before.   For example, Kyle DeBoer will make more than any assistant coach at IU in any sport.
    4)  For 5 seasons, Tom Crean led the Big Ten in recruiting spending and for 2 seasons was top 3 in the country.   Our coaches are supported with the resources they need.
    5)  The baseball program is having unprecedented success in recent years,
    6)  Women's basketball won the post-season NIT a year ago.
    7)   Indiana has one of the best aquatics centers in the country and is nationally competitive in both men's and women's swimming and diving.
    8)  Men's soccer remains nationally competitive year in and year out
    9)  Women's softball - historically awful, is 25-6 and ranked #19 in the country right now.
    10)   Indiana University has perhaps the most technologically advanced facilities in America.
    11)   IU sports properties is still a top 10 revenue producer in the country and men's basketball top 5.
Now....there are warts, to be sure.  He's cheesy.  He seems to fit the "everybody gets a trophy" persona.  BUT..he did fire Tom Crean because results weren't happening and I think he does know men's basketball has to win. But let's not hold him accountable for being a terrible athletic director.    He's far from it.

We try to keep this board as a sane place for people to express their thoughts, negative or positive, but at a certain point one-note conclusory gloom and doom posts start to wear down the peoples!
No posts were hidden; no warning points have been issued; no hard feelings have been created. Just trying to keep the board on track.

You think Allen is going anywhere after signing two of our best recruiting classes back to back? And bringing in Tuttle? Once again, the admin has patience. You have to otherwise your program becomes a revolving door with no foundation nor job security.

“Hey, come turn the worst FBS program in the country into a perennial bowl team in 2 years or you’ll be on your way out. By the way, we’ve always struggled to fill the stadium, even in the best of times. Good luck!”

Feel the same way. I love that some people hate on the Stephen A. Smith’s, Skip Bayless’, etc. of the sports talk community and then come on here posting in the same “hot take” style. Also, the people who only post negative comments or appear out of thin air when a team is playing bad or takes a loss. Game threads are fun to read after the game to watch people’s “glass house of emotions” but are terrible to follow during the game.

Back in the day it was mostly trying to calm Chuck down. Now it seems 4 of 5 comments are about the team playing terrible. I’ll probably only check in the game threads after games for the rest of the season.

I believe once a community gets so big you’ll have a vocal minority trying to “out hot take” each other until it ends up being what current game threads have become. Too bad a good thing never lasts.

No hate for Alford from me I just personally didn’t think he was a good enough coach for a program like IU. If he never went to IU and if you are in charge would his resume be qualified enough for you to take over a program like IU? In my opinion it didn’t and I’m glad he isn’t in charge of the program I follow. Doesn’t mean I wish him failure moving forward. When he coaches again I wish him nothing but success

I don't know you, my man....but this is a pretty big step you're taking with kids YOU don't know.  Indiana played 3 games in 6 days with basically no bench.  Attacking the character of these guys after what you saw against Marquette is a low blow.  If you're going down that path, I hope you're willing to stay with it all year because character isn't something that comes and goes; and this perspective will be as unpopular as it is inaccurate.

I actually loved that he didn't call a timeout there.   Trust in your kids is built with moments like that, and we got a decent look and a terrific opportunity for a put back.  We wouldn't have done a lot better than that even with a timeout.   Too early?  Yeah....I can agree with that.   But I'm not blaming Archie for no timeout.  I might for playing Durham for 36 minutes; and I might put some blame on Justin Smith for giving us almost nothing today; but I don't mind not calling a timeout there.

Edit :  This loss will not hurt Indiana at all come Selection Sunday.  Not one bit.   It's not a good loss; and it's one we can learn from; but were short handed and simply didn't play well.  If I'm Archie Miller; I can't WAIT to show them the film and can't WAIT to talk about missing 5 of 15 free throws and having 18 turnovers.  I HATE losing; but if there's one we can grow from, that was it.
