He's right where he should be imo although I think I saw he was 12th (ahead of Fleck but not for long). I see some folks being critical but he basically tripled his salary and for one successful season at that.

If we lose Deboer we are taking a step back. Our offense improved by lengths and bounds this year. Here's to hoping that does not happen.

Ohio State with the most impressive win blowing out UNC at UNC 25. Holtmann's recruiting out of state has been huge for them. Liddell played great in limited action. They seem poised to compete with Mich St/Mich for BIG title.

I think everyone agrees Allen deserves extension/raise. Will only help with recruiting, which is key to continuing to build on the success. We have gotten some good athletes but still need to raise it a level and work on adding to our depth. I am skeptical about the defensive coordinator. Really wish we had put similar money into that position as the offensive coordinator. Just look at what Deboer has been able to do. You get what you $$$ pay.

Yes, I still remember him begging and pleading with everyone that he would rather have Lagow than Ramsey and Lagow had the worst pocket mobility I have ever seen. -

Offense did enough to win many times and Ramsey made some huge plays. Defense is where all the criticism should lie. That was absolutely a horrible performance against a third string QB. I hope we can lock up Deboer but the defense and d coordinator have left a lot to be desired as the season has worn on. Offense had more of the key injuries too. -

Offense going to have to get back to the 1st quarter success. Defense looked absolutely overmatched. -

Yes, watching him versus James and Walker...he's definitely the best RB we have. I thought Fryfogle looked like a cramp but maybe not. Hopefully can get back to a full arsenol in the second half. -

Offense has gone to crap. I get we've lost some key parts but the playcalling has been odd. Not sure if it has to do with Ramsey being limited. -

Not if he is hurt. The last few drives after that big hit he has looked very pedestrian. -

We put so many eggs in the Brooks basket. It was silly not to have more lined up behind him. Carton and Garcia both lost to schools I wouldn't have expected to beat us. Archie has done extremely well establishing roots in-state. But our out of state recruiting has been close to a fail. In state will get us enough recruits to be competitive but to get to another level we are going to have to start landing some really good out of state guys too. -
(2020) PF/C - Dawson Garcia to Minnesota

100% agree. Eventually we are going to have to start landing guys like Garcia if we want to further elevate the program. I like the current mold of players Archie is targeting. Seem like hard working team guys that fill specific needs. But it would be a leap to call any of them game changers. Garcia certainly seems like a game changer. -

Not really. They have the luxury of picking who they want. However, the top guys have the mindset too that they can beat out top competition (Keion Brooks just one of many examples) -

Does competition ever hurt Duke, Kentucky, Kansas? If he can't win out over those guys good luck at another top school. No disrespect to either Rob or Franklin (i am glad both are in candy stripes). -
Penix and Ramsey, a perspective
TXHoosierDaddy replied to RaceToTheTop's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
Just a freshman who has sat on the sideline for two years right? He had almost as much experience as Penix heading into the season. I know Penix and Ramsey have both looked good but I am surprised Tuttle ended up 3 on depth chart as many are here. -
Welcome to the 2019-2020 IUBB Season
TXHoosierDaddy replied to Walking Boot of Doom's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Yes, need to let the season play out. Too early to start on the negatives. People have reflected back to how long it took Beilein to build UM. However, there are examples to the contrary like Beard at TT. Outside of Davis, Green, Smith and Durham everyone has been recruited by Archie. I expect there to be a lot of improvement and getting to the tourney is well within grasp if guys develop like they should, health goes our way etc. -
Welcome to the 2019-2020 IUBB Season
TXHoosierDaddy replied to Walking Boot of Doom's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
The Big Ten always has some really good teams. It's never going to change. In fact, it is actually weaker now than i can remember with Michigan clearly taking a big step back and Wisconsin not at the same level they once were with Bo. Purdue should be solid but this may be their weakest team in the last four years or so for Painter. There is no reason we shouldn't finish 4-6. Maybe I am a tad optimistic but we have a lot of familarity within the team. Guys should be well acquainted and familiar with each others games and everyone should be hungry to elevate us back to being successful as a basketball program. At the end of the day, we all just want to go dancing again and see quite a bit of improvement. -

People have IU ranked so low. If that is where they end up things will surely get interesting as the season moves along. I am remaining optimistic that that the freshman will have some sort of impact and the returning guys all will have gotten better from last season. Health always remains key as well. -

Good points but who is our defensive coordinator? I am legit worried on that side of the ball. Allen had a handle on it when he was a DC but its a complete different ballgame when you are the HC. Saw Allen chewing someone out a few times when the defense was out there. I assume it was d-coordinator. We paid up for an offensive coordinator and now have a QB who is talented enough to win us games with his arm and legs. If we decide Allen is the answer Glass may need to pay up on that side of the ball as well. Our secondary is young but too talented to be giving up the chunk plays to a less than stellar MSU QB. I agree Allen has brought in some talented players. Wilson always brought them in on offense but Allen is bringing them in on both sides of the ball. I'm optimistic because what plagued us the last 3 or 4 years with Debourd and having no QB appears to be behind us. It's at least an exciting offense again but I sure hope we do not waste this talented QB's years by not getting better defensively. Talent can elevate it but I am a bit worried about the coaching side... -

It's infuriating that we can't get a year where both the offense and defense are above average. On the other hand, at least we have an offense again. It sucks being lousy on both sides of the ball and with Penix it definitely makes the offense fun to watch again. Just have to hope the defense improves some and we beat the competition we are supposed to beat. It's disappointing with Allen being a defensive guy and the defense looking worse and worse every year under his watch. -
Fire or ‘Way to Go!’ Tom Allen?
TXHoosierDaddy replied to Hoosierfan2017's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
It won't matter what we do until we have a competent AD that can make hiring decisions. Do you have any confidence whatsoever that he would find a good coach if Allen were dismissed after this year? I sure as heck don't. -

TXHoosierDaddy replied to ThompsonHoosier's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
Yes, if he's not right there is zero reason to run him out there against OSU. It won't do anyone any good. It would take a special performance to beat these guys and having a quarterback at less than 100% just isn't going to be a recipe for success. Rather run out Tuttle and at least see what he's got. -

I've seen Ramsey twice already against OSU. We need something special from our QB to beat OSU no doubt about it. I just can't see it happening with Ramsey. -
