  1. Turns out I haven't been following all the IU football news this week. The omission of Lagow was accidental, thanks for the heads up!
  2. News broke yesterday of Trevor Knight (OU) and Kyle Allen (TAMU) being granted full releases from their respective programs.  Knight will be immediately eligible to play next season, Allen will have to sit a year out.     Both QBs share a similar playing style (Allen a bit more so than Knight) that would nicely fill a glaring hole that will be left at IU after Suddy goes off and starts dropping bombs in the NFL (well... at least that's how it goes in my head.)  (Note: I liked the improvements I saw in Zander this year, especially with his arm strength and quicker decision making, but there's still a large drop-off from Nate to him.)  Unfortunately, both Knight's and Allen's stats suggest they are more careless with the ball, having career TD to INT ratios of 1.32 (25/19) and 2.36 (33/14), respectively, which compared to Nate's career mark of 3.22 (58/18) is a significant drop. However, they can both offer better than average mobility in the pocket compared to what is normally scene with a QB-PP.   So all of the above to ask: Is there a fit with either of these guys? Should either former 5-Star recruit give IU the time of day? Should IU even consider trying to attract one of them, or should they show support for Zander and Co.? Wilson has obvious ties to OU, does that offer any benefit (or drawback) should IU decide to pursue Knight?   These are just my internal thoughts; last I checked (right before I posted this) there was no mention of Allen, Knight, IU, Indiana, IUFB or any permutation thereof on Twitter or Google.  I would be shocked if IU were to go after either of them, let alone if they were actually able to get one to commit to IU.   (Shameless nugget and full disclosure: I graduated from IU in'13, got my masters from Texas A&M Spring '15, and currently reside in Houston. I'd love to see Allen in Cream and Crimson and see it come full circle for me. The thought of him in Bloomington came into my head last night and I couldn't shake it, even though it's a near certainty that it won't happen.)

    Shaka Smart to Texas

RIP Verdell's ACL   Poor guy worked so hard to get to the tourney and didn't get to play in it.

    Shaka Smart to Texas

Fair enough. Maybe I'm just a sucker for energy, but his system really intrigues me. Or perhaps I'd like to see a more aggressive defensive mindset in general.
  5. Thoughts? A little bit upset/jealous/generic negative adjective he wasn't given a shot at IU?

    Would you rather...

Ah yes, good point. Accidentally misspoke, thanks for the clarification. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  8. ...have Wichita State win the NCAA tournament and dethrone IU as the only undefeated NCAA Tournament champions   or   ...have Kentucky win its 9th NCAA tournament     Reasoning for selection would be much appreciated!
  9. We won an NCAA Division I National Championship last year in soccer.  Prior to the start of the tournament, the school and campus were ablaze with new Hoosier Army fans and hope. The Q48 was in full swing and it looked like IU had begun to have another sport (aside from basketball) that students truly cared about. After we won the championship, the team was hailed and even given a halftime tribute at a basketball game.   Now, fast forward one year and it seems like there is very little talk about the program positively or negatively.  In one short year we went from the best in college soccer to owning a ~33.3% win percentage.   Imagine if the basketball team won a national championship the previous year, and then the next year wound up not having a winning record.  Imagine the outrage and disappointment that would be spoken, and rightfully so.   If we really are "24 Sports 1 Team", it would be nice to see some discussion about sports in the community other than basketball, or else we're just trying to sell false camaraderie.  Don't get me wrong, my favorite part of attending IU was going to the basketball games and falling in love with our program.   Just some food for thought!

Let's see who all is brave enough to post

Six degrees of separation: Hoosier style Net effect of the six separations: A friendly foe of the Hoosiers, a Tar Heel, becomes a Hoosier for a day 1. First degree of separation: My name is Clark Baumberger, and I'm a recent graduate of IU (December 2012). I interact regularly with my roommate Karissa Clodfelder, who is a senior here at IU and a huge Hoosier basketball fan. This is us (click). 2. Second degree of separation: This past summer, Karissa met her crush from the IU basketball team during a night out on the town: the one, the only, "Tomahawk" Tom Pritchard. (Karissa and Tom, Kar's very very happy, no judging) 3. Third degree of separation: Known for his persistent fouling and his periodic phenomenal play (see highlight below), he was a frequent conversationalist with Tom Crean. (Tomahawk nickname highlight) 4. Fourth degree of separation: This past October during Hoosier Hysteria, Tom Crean met the beloved Sage Steele, an IU alumni that succeeded through the journalism program. 5. Fifth degree of separation: Sage won a bet back in November (on the 27th cough, cough) that required her to contact Shana Daniels regarding a pair of candy-stripe pants. Shana is the "Social Media Coordinator & Asst. Media Relations Director at Indiana University", as seen in her twitter bio (@IUShanaDan). SPOILER WARNING FOR FINAL DEGREE OF SEPARATION 6. Sixth degree of separation: Shana recently delivered upon Sage's request to send a pair of candy-stripe pants to none other than Sage's co-anchor on ESPN's SportsCenter, Stuart Scott! Stu, who is a University of North Carolina alumni, is required to wear the candy-stripes to dinner with Sage due to the Hoosiers utter dominance of Tar Heels on November 27th! He's a man of his word Thus I have connected myself with the personal embarrassment that Stuart Scott will have to go through through six simple steps!
