Woody, with support from a large number of basketball alums,  wanted the job when we hired Miller. Glass blew him off, which angered those guys, including QB. That was a big error, even if he wasn’t the right guy. Some things linger for years.

With all due respect, we now know Woody was definitely not the right guy.

  2. IF we offered is the key. We haven't offered him. Judging by the fact we're offering a bunch of similar players positionally who are higher ranked in recent days, there's no guarantee that offer was imminent or coming at all.

Very true. Just saw we were in daily contact, but I think we have higher priorities at PG, so I guess it isn’t that surprising after all.

  3. How confident are you in your source(s) and their connection?

I would like to say I’m very confident, but this whole process has made me feel like I have no idea if anyone knows what is going on other than Dolson. Obviously, the IU-hating media has played a part in that. Hoping his info is wrong though! Riding the Stevens train til we hear from Dolson himself, just trying to not get my hopes as high.

  4. You know someone connected?

I wouldn’t say connected in every aspect of IU basketball, but in this certain coaching search, I feel confident in his info. He has said Stevens from before Archie was fired until today, when he sent the text about it being a miracle.

Also, I’m not trying to discredit anyone else’s sources. I just wanted to relay what I heard. I really appreciate seeing info from everyone else on here. Like I said, I hope he’s wrong and we get some good news soon.

  5. It’s not about W’s and L’s as much as no adjustments being made to effectively use players with the talents of a Romeo or JM.  It’s absolutely fair to question a head coach in year 1 or year 30 who seems incapable of running anything resembling an offense besides just trying to force feed your post player or not giving your star guard any offensive scheme except giving him the ball and hoping he makes a play in iso.

I would love more touches for Romeo and Juwan, but it also hurts not having many other playmakers. Watching tonight, Justin Smith ran around the perimeter quite often when he doesn’t even have a perimeter game at this point. Guys like Phinisee, McRoberts hardly put the ball up. I question most of DG’s shots. May as well key on Romeo/Juwan because those other guys will have a tough time scoring. Even more so if you can keep Romeo out of the paint. Idk why adjustments aren’t being made on offense. I’m frustrated as well with slow starts, etc.

  6. I’m sure it’s not a popular opinion but I’m still on the Archie bandwagon...but tonight was tough.

Regardless firing a coach in less than 3 years has major ramifications for the future because no decent candidate will trust our administration to give them time to implement their system.

Tonight was ugly, but what can you really do when 3-4 of your competent 7 players can’t create their own shot? Defenders sag off Justin and McRob, Fitzner isn’t really a threat, and I don’t think rob is a great offensive threat yet either. I’m going to wait until next year to criticize.

Also sucks that we don’t get any continuity due to injuries. Seems like players just can’t get into a groove. Definitely need a shooter or 2 brought in next year. Franklin looks like he could help in that area.

  7. The time for adjustments was when we struggled against UC Davis

I expected more from this team as well, but I also realize the staff has only had a year to bring in their personnel, and one of those key contributors is redshirting.

I am not a fan of the offense at all. I don’t understand how you can’t find ways to get the ball in Romeo/Juwan’s hands more often. Frustrating, but not calling for coaches head after 1.5 years.

  8. I know I'm late to the party here, but I made sure and texted Natty once I got the notification lol.  I do want to thank Coach DeBord for all his time here and his commitment to the program.  With that said, I'm very happy that a change is coming with the offense.  The offense needs a fresh mind to lead it, and I think this will help get IU to a bowl game next year.  Really hope Canada will step up in a big way to take the offense to the next level, so we will see.
I like college football, but I only watch IU so I can't speak about coaches and who we should have tried to get.  Just want to see a consistent offense that doesn't leave me scratching my head more than I should be.

Sounds like Canada could be a candidate for the NIU HC gig if their coach goes to Temple
